The best RE game ever is now working on 3.40 OE thanks to graz68 ! No more freeze at the police station.

I tested this on the US Dual Shock version of the game (also is confirmed working on the JP version by graz98), all you need to do is make sure the GameID of the disc is changed to SLPS01222 when creating the eboot.

So this whole time all anyone ever needed to do was change the Game ID to the Japanese version?

yeah lol, amazing isn't it. Sony must've put in specific patches for certain GameIDs.

edit: yep, I was right. I did some digging in pops.prx, take a look at Mathieulh's post for the full game list.

yup exactly  Possibly the GameIDs can be used on other games as well.. I've heard reports of the RE2 ID fixing the freeze problem in FF8.

I've played a bit of the Silent Hill I ripped without any issues...
Should I remake my EBOOT using SLPM86192 as my GameID?
This is a great development but it sure makes complications when trying to compile compatibility lists...
It'd be nice to see the database in PSX2PSP updated to take advantage of these developments (or is it already?) I've never used the "Apply patches" checkbox in PSX2PSP (what's that used for anyway?)
Heh heh, sorry about all the questions, I'm pretty psyched to play RE2...

I'd only change it if you're having issues with the game. Apparently Brave Fencer Musashi is also working with the RE2 ID. Haven't tested yet though too busy with RE2

the "apply patches" box is for PAL compatibility (not needed anymore since the new pops support PAL)

Thank you for this info.!

I wonder if this will work for Chrono Cross and Legend of Legaia too? I love those games... My PSP freezes on the lizard boss part at the beginning of the game and in Legaia on the Healing Leaf part

Also for the person who used this trick for FF8: did you use SLPS01222 as well?

Question: I have the FF8 cd rip and every time I try to change the GameID it refuses to boot. I'm on OE 3.40-A and I am using PSX2PSP v0.7.1 to do the conversion. I have it set to create the GameID folder with 0 compression and no special images included. I change the GameID in the first window to SLPS01222 and I also change the output folder to match that. Am I doing something wrong? This is originally the same image I used to get up to the Dollett Comm Tower final fight, so I know it worked at one point. Any suggestions? Thanks again for figuring out these "hacks" and getting more games working all! Woo hoo!!

MISTER BOB, THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OFF IS THAT YOU HAVE ALSO USED THIS GAME ID FOR RES EVIL 2, OR ANOTHER GAME THAT HAS BEEN MADE BY YOU, WHICH IS CONFUSING THE SYSTEM, WHICH IS STOPPING FF8 FROM BOOTING. IF NOT I'LL DO SOME HOMEWORK 4 YA, JUS LET US KNOW.

Alright I got the game booting again (I was trying to just use PSX2PSP to convert the EBOOT.PBP from one GameID to the other, but instead I ripped the ISO out of the eboot and then reconverted it with the new GameID) but I am wondering how I can use the old memory cards (which were using the original SLUS GameID) with the new eboot (which is using SLPS01222). Is this where I would use some sort of cheat system to load the memory card into ram and then save onto the new one or is there some way to convert the "old" memory cards to the new system? Thanks a bunch for the info!

umm, just had a thought in reference to this game ID fix.....

it'd muck up the gamesaves....having multiple games with one name will mean any time you play one game and save it,then play another game and save that, you'd lose the progress for the 1st game.....

true but every save folder is basically a virtual memory card. so you should be able to get around 20 gave saves on one ID.

great find. I actually knew certain IDs caused changes in POPs but never really dwelled on it. I looked for a while for an ID that fixes the HOJO battle in FF7 US version but gave up quickly cause i dont like sitting around for the convert, then playing and almost killing hojo just to have the screen fuck up. Anyone care to find an ID working with it? (will test this RE ID myself). Also, i remember that some PSX emulators on PC needed an option checked to run FF7 uninterupted.

Hmmmm...It could be possible to use this info to reverse engineer pops and create a plugin to load specific hacks in a way similar to popsloader loads different versions of pops.

But again, it would require someone with the skill, desire, and time on their hands to do so. While I have the desire, I'm severely lacking in the skill and time department. Guess we'll have to stick with using incorrect IDs.

I'm glad to hear FF8 is working, however. I'll have to give it a try.

guys, run into a bit of a prob, and it sounds really noobish but i do apologise.

finished leon disc 1 and it has created a claire scenario B save file.

however, when i try to load this on the claire disc eboot it will not find the save file.

i have tried various different methods e.g same disc id, same save id but nothing works.

not sure if the ntsc game worked in this way but i can imagine its the same format.

n e ideas about how to fix or has any one encountered the same prob?

n e one know of a fix ?

cheers

I figured out how to transfer memory cards from one GameID to another. If this has been said before, I'm sorry, I just figured it out, so I figured I'd share :) Basically its pretty simple. If you have old saves you want to use on your new GameID'd PSX Game, just rename the folder in /PSP/GAME/SAVEDATA to something else (say, OLD_GAME_SAVES). Then, start your new PSX->PSP converted game with the corrected GameID, and get to a point where the memory card is accessed (for me, I'm working with FF8, so I simply went to 'Continue' in the main menu and checked the memory cards, which, of course, were empty) Then, shut down the game, and access your MSPD however you normally do (either over the PSP, in a card reader, telepathically, etc.) Navigate to the savegame folder, and see the new directory which is named for your corrected GameID (or however else you named it). Then, just copy ALL of the files EXCEPT CONFIG.BIN AND PARAMS.SFO from the *OLD* memory card into the *NEW* directory, overwriting anything in there. Then, just boot up the game, and viola! Your old memory cards are usable! Now I can finally finish the Dollett Comm. Tower portion without starting over :D Just thought I'd share, and good luck to you all!

wait, what? EBOOT or bin, it doesn't matter. Just open it up from the ISO/PBP field in PSX2PSP. Should display a GameID then, so change it to the one specified in this thread. Then hit convert.

Yeah, I have DQ VII and it works fine. Not certain why it'd be doing that - you sure the bin file isn't corrupted or anything?

What program are you using to dump the bin file?

So you have to use SLPS01510 now?

If thats the one I referred to..I don't have either with me now..(Icetea etc or RE2)
But with the original fix(slps01222 or whatever it was) you couldn't get past the warning screen(ingame) it would freeze and I had to enable fast disc speed to go past it but when I tried to start a game it would black screen me..I tried the other ID (BioHazard 2 Dual Shock Version (J) and viola!!No problems..

Yeah, it was adressed, but it broke some games too..shadow madness is broke..but CC is fully playable all the way thru. As long as you don't go into the satus screen, said that though..

It does seem, to me at least, that they are either planning to release more games and fixing them beforehand thanks to CFW guinea pigs..or just simply improving the emu..

If you open up the EBOOT in PSX2PSP you can change the Save ID without re-ripping.

RJ said the Japanese Game ID works, which is SLPS 01510. Try that.
