definately a good guide, would help a inexperienced user build up a system from scratch.very very good guide. :)

only thing is you didnt mention any specifications like socket 939 processors or pc3200 ram.also would be good to mention that motherboards usually come with different slots like PCI-E and AGP (although i suppose AGP is pretty much dead)

for VGA Cards, I would have to tell them how to do it for PCI, AGP, and PCIe, while their Graphic Cards comes with manuals that would explain it much more better than me

well not really,it's pretty much the same as the RAM except the higher end cards require a connection to the PSU.

in that case it'd be a case of common sense, find the plug that is similar to the one the PCIe card requires :)

hmm...i don't have any pics of my comp setup,it's nothing anyway,it was a Compaq SR1619UK anyway....

AMD Athlon64 3200+
1gig of DDR PC3200 RAM
not sure of the HD...think it was 150gig or something
ATI Radeon X1600 pro on PCI-E

only thing i had to do with that setup was add in the video card and RAM really and it runs alright.my mum's bf uses it more than me though.pity since i can't really use my laptop to play CSS. :(

a older setup i had about i messed about with some clear perspex and stuff but it's gone now,mum gave it away :(

WOW!! How do you keep that thing cool, the heat alone from the processor.

Darkchild

I have 7 fans :x

and a big case for the cool air to circulate

+ I have an air cooling method that just can't fail!

I have a fan in the front of my case sucking fresh air into the machine which cools the hard drives, then, there's the VGA fan who cools the Card and sends out even more air, and I have a VERY BIG fan sending all of that, OUT! same for the 3 fans in the power supply xD

Thats so what I had in mind when I started to plan out my next computer.

pwned , lol . the fans probly use as much energy as the pc

Darkchild
09-13-2007, 10:38 AM
not really, every fan only consumes 12 volts, while there are various other voltages being spread across the pc =D

MADamp5 you mean? XD still under construction :X

thought it was cancelled? :P

is that based off the MAD lib for linux and psp btw?....think that there was a lib of it for those anyway....

Darkchild
09-13-2007, 08:50 PM
nope xD it's for windows and all libs (most of them) are made by me, I'm gonna use Bass.dll and the windows MultiMedia Interface for the other one (if one doesn't work, madamp5 will ask the other to open the file ;) )

hey can i ask a question about my RAM?

1 have 1GB ram and 2 256Mb rams, can i connect all three of them? im currently only connecting the 1GB ram... the RAM slots are the same as the EBOOK, 4 slots, 2 colors each... and how to install them if its possible...

really a noob here >.<

Darkchild
08-05-2008, 06:25 PM
well, if you have all the slots, and they are the same type, I see no problem, just make sure that both the 256MB sticks are on the same colour

and put the bios in Memory Flexibility mode ;)

Seraph
08-06-2008, 05:41 PM
oh thanx :D

Seraph
08-07-2008, 03:00 PM
hmm Darkchild, i tried it recently but my system wont boot to Windows, i have tried reformating but still to no avail.... so i removed the 2 256RAMs and all went back to normal... i skipped the Memory Flexibility Mode because there is no such thing in my BIOS menu T_T

Darkchild
08-09-2008, 05:26 AM
are you sure?

There has to be... have you checked your motherboard's manual?

What mobo do you have?

Seraph
08-10-2008, 07:57 AM
>.< my PC is kinda old and i dont know what a mobo is >.<

Darkchild
08-10-2008, 11:11 AM
Mobo = Motherboard

I'm asking for your motherboard's model :)

http://www.sportsgamer.com/forums/tech-support/103444-how-know-what-motherboard-i-have.html

try reading that :) might help ;)

edit:

even better! If you can access you bios look for something like this:
"Flexibility Option" (Enable it!)
Put DRAM Frequency in auto, in fact, put all other values in auto (where possible)
just don't touch them after the "DRAM command rate"

Seraph
08-11-2008, 04:47 AM
GA-8IPE1000-G is my MOBO
Intel 865PE is my chipset

ow, btw, my 1GB Ram is kingston and my 2 256Mb ram is PQI...

is that the problem?

Darkchild
08-11-2008, 11:25 PM
don't think so, Flexibillity mode is for making different rams work together

btw, look farther in your bios! It HAS to have it :S

Seraph
08-12-2008, 02:33 AM
>.< been looking everywhere...

is there any other name for it other than Memory Flexibility Mode?

bwalker
08-12-2008, 06:04 PM
I have never seen that option before but it obviously exists lol. Are the ram the same speed and type. If they are not the same try making it. for example if one stick is ddr400 and the other is ddr333 then downclock the 400 to 333. If they run at different timeings set them both to the lower timings. And put them on 2t command rate helps improve stability alot.

kk thanx, im gonna try what u adviced :D
