i'm planning to make a forum myself on the web, and i need to know what i things do i need, like servers, programs(software),hardware, etc.

Complicated? no prob, ready for the challenge.

and yes, the forum is on psp, both enlish and chinese(i wish), basiclly to feed taiwanese some REAL knowledge on psp.

any help would be pleased.

well..first of all you will need some place to host this, do you have any in mind (other people who want this...take notes!)

The easy way would be to 'rent' or register at a webhost and just maintain the site from there. You'll need, for one, a website-building program, such as Dreamweaver (recommended), or M@crosoft's Frontpage. That's about it, really, other than money:smile:.

okay... my friend said he could be a webhost for me (for free HAHAHAHA).
i know how to use dreamweaver, frontpage, etc. but no time. i might use premade, since my summer is fill with cram school (10am to 10pm, mon~sun). what's next? (man i'm being such a total noob here...)

okay did all the downloading. there's phpbb 3.0 beta. hows that one? i still downloaded phpbb2.

yeah exophase runs on its own server, but that has nothing to do with the website address.

phpbb-web.net is a domain name. Domains cost a yearly fee, around $9 or so.

basically let's say you bought acerthief.com, then you have the rights to that domain and can make acerthief.com go to whatever IP or website address you want.

where to buy domains? $9 doesn't sound much in a way, but i don't know how much it would cost to maintain a forum. :confused1:

That would cover the cost of the forum, man. You don't need alot of webspace to host a forum.
