We've seen 3.40LE, and i guess it wasn't really accept in the forum.
Now a not-so-famous coder "becus25" made 3.40 IE (no, not internet explorer, its increased edition.) came in as well.
with two similar firmware now around, would you consider trying their firmware, and hope they will continue with D_A scene, or we start flashing our psp until some REAL firmware come out?

(sorry for double post)
lets start myself.
personally i kinda give hope to becus25, because D_A has helped with his earlier cfw, 1.62IE.
i tried it, and i was really nice, but it can't run iso (because we are strongly agaist piracy!). and he has this experience on cfw, and with D_A supports before, maybe a custom 3.51 by him isn't an impossible thing.
on the other hand, 3.40LE, by test30, I don't really know then. in lots of chinese forums they all go for 3.40LE, wishing everybody to flash to it, and consider IE as total crap. personally i don't know anything from test30, he came out all of a sudden.
i know i'm kind of giving a positive feeling on IE and a lil negative on LE. but it's all just a small step towards a new scene in custom firmware. In general, IE and LE aren't bad. it's all jsut a start.
i'd say the scene will continue in just a few months.

custom firmware....i think D_A's OE was just great in what it did.theres not that much i can think of that could of been added to it.it plays homebrew,PSone games and UMDs. the only problem is that in about 6 months, there might be games requiring 3.50 or something.
i'm sure if i sat and thought about it and had a peice of paper, i could think of features i would want in a new CFW but right now i don't think its necessary to make any new ones.

The only thing I could think of would be a way of compressing games or something so they would be specific for cfw. The files would be much smaller therefore more room on mem stick. The cfw would have to have a way though of uncompressing and reading the data with little or no delay. A man can dream :)

Some people don't realize that both of those custom firmwares - IE and LE - could've been put together in a plugin. They are nothing more than simple add-ons to OE.
The real work in OE goes into patching security, all the checks in the PSone emulator, as well as getting homebrew to run in both kernels 1.5 and 3.4.
Personally, I don't like how these two authors are implying its a new custom firmware, as if it will replace OE, because it won't.
That being said, there are people who are working on continuing OE. They don't have the source code though, so it's not going to be easy. In all likelihood, you'll see a new DevHook before a real 3.51 custom firmware will hit. BOOSTER is still around and he's just as talented as D_A is.
