Well North America has a huge number of overweight people. There are solutions to this like fat camp but alot of parents are content with letting their children sit at home playing video games and getting no exercise. Walking in wal mart the other day and saw 2 kids in video game section at least 40 pounds overweight they could barely walk. I think the wii does have a good idea with offering games which can be physical but I still believe more steps can be taken whats your opinion.

I think you are right, BUT, it must be those kids to make up their minds, not someone else, meh for example, I admit I am fat, BUT, one day I looked at the mirror and said "DAMN I'M FAT!" and since then I've been on a diet, I've lost 10Kg and look much much better (Oh, and I'm feeling better too! :D)

I just have to say, I'm fat, but I carry it well. I may be quite overweight, but it's not like I can't walk. But I don't mind- Pretty much my whole family is either fat or lives on a diet of water, lettuce and diet pills, so I don't have a problem being as big as I am and happy.

weird thing about gamers.....they seem to fall into either the fat camp (no pun intended) or the underweight side.me,myself fall in the underweight side.i put it to my diet of tea and toast. :P nah,i mostly live on my own and can't be bothered making food most of the time.
that being said,i would say that obesity is a big problem now a days and i would say its up to the parents to motivate their kids to lose weight but i do think its good of game companys to try the same.

Nintendo is just using that aspect of the Wii as a marketing gimmick. First, you only move your arms - that's hardly exercise. Second, Nintendo itself says in the MANUALS to minimize the amount of movement you use when playing the game. Wildly waving your arms like in the commercials can hurt other people and damage property in your home. So in the end, their controller is NOT a way to get exercise.

They do have newer stuff like the push up device and if you really do get into the game and move wildly like most people I think do it does burn some calories. Not that I like the wii in particualr but it is a good idea.

Why you might have a point, it is still more exercise then sitting on your butt all day. Everyone just needs to buy DDR
