Go with the 4GB of RAM, with those specs dont let your RAM slow you down

lol i just bought two new sunon fans and they sound like planes but they move alot of air so im not complaining. Well 2gigs wont slow me down as i cant afford 4 gigs just yet with everthing but i will get it at somepoint maybe xmas. But i can cruise through games now which is cool. I can make nwn 2 and oblivion. Im just trying to do one more upgrade and not have to worry for a long time. And with intels price drop a perfect time. Ive also decided on geil black dragon ram instead its supposed to be a really high quality pcb and will do ddr2 1066 easy. I just want to get 3.2 out of the quad i already oc'ed the gtx. Im totaly a computer geek :)

well its gonna be like 300 when the price drops next week but overclocking is relatively harmless if you smart about it. You take baby steps and monitor temps. I dont like to increase vcore past stock by much .25 at most really cause thats what really increases temps. But the new model q6600 is supposed to overclock very well so im hoping for 3.2 which would be 600mhz. well see what happens. I took my gtx from 576/900 to 633/1020 that made a huge difference and it only runs 1-5c hotter under load.

im gonna get a tuniq 120. I should be able to hit 3 on air. but i will have to mess with it. Thats the fun of ocing. But most people hit 2.9-3.2 on air after that you need water or even phase.

well im still waiting for my quad :(. I have everything else though. Ram turned into geil black dragon, and mobo to a gigabyte p35-ds3r. I did find out though that these new G0 stepping quad cores overclock like crazy. I should be able to get mine to 3.5 no prob. Thats a 1gig overclock. i cant wait.

remember though...OC's require very good cooling systems...so be carefull, you don't wanna make a squared hole in your case & motherboard...do ya?

nope thats what the tuniq 120 is for, arguably one of the best air coolers on the market. And the new revision q6600's can take up to 72.6c however i plan on keeping mine under 62c. I should have it in two weeks so ill let you guys know how it works out. My stupid chip right now sucks, but all the intel c2d have been great most will hit 3ghz easy with a decent heat sink and fan.

I got it and its amazing. It is so much faster then my old computer. I have it running at 3.4 from 2.4. A 1ghz overclock. I need to test final stability tonight but so far it seems like it will be good. If my room wasnt 88F i could definately get 3.8 easy. My temps are the only thing holding me back. Im so happy about this :) I can post some pics if you guys want.

I stand it up so they both fit nicely on my desk, and i thought it helped dissapate the heat better. As for the elite i had to get as you can see everything else is black lol. I actually bought it a couple hours before the pics lol.

I have a strong burning hatred of jealousy towards you, bwalker.:smile: I'm going to build a new PC here in the next week or so. I'm more of an AMD guy myself so I'm gonna go with an FX-74, couple gigs of Corsair, and probably a Radeon X1950XTX.
