This is a step by step guide for installing the new Devhook 0.52 (http://exophase.com/files/psp/DH0520100_311.zip) along with 3.11 firmware.
1. Remove all previous devhook files from your memory stick.
2. Copy the devhook 0.52 package to the root of your memory stick. This would be ms0:/ and the three folders should be "dh", "PSP" and "fbm". If you are running OE, make sure that the DH052 folders are going into the GAME150 folder.
3. Download the 3.11 update here (http://exophase.com/files/psp/EBOOT_311.PBP).
4. Get PSARDumper here (http://exophase.com/files/psp/psardumper330_15.zip). Unpack it and move the program to your GAME folder, or GAME150 if you are running OE.
5. Extract the DATA.PSAR from the 3.11 update you've downloaded with PBP Unpacker (http://www.pdc.me.uk/pbpunpacker.php?). Once thats done, copy the DATA.PSAR over to the root of your memory stick.
6. Run PSARDumper on your PSP, once its loaded up press X to dump a sigchecked 3.11. Once its done your PSP will return to the main menu.
7. Open up your memory stick, you will now see that there is an "F0" folder in the root. Move that to the "311" folder inside of "dh".
8. Finally, choose "FIRMWARE" from the devhook menu and pick 3.11. Now start devhook and you should be good to go!
Enjoy :)

I have dark alex's 2.71 SE C firmware
I had boosters devhook 0.50 working
I followed your instructions to delete my devhook folder
followed all the instruction to the letter, all seemed ok until I try to boot up devhook as instructed in step 8.
when I try booting devhook up the psp logo screen comes up with the white background.
My psp freezes with the logo screen, then shuts down. it does this everytime I try to boot up devhook.
Any ideas?
wish I'd stuck with my pevious setup now! :o(

make sure you are putting devhook in your 1.5 GAME folder, not the 2.71 GAME folder.

Yes you was correct, didn't know it had to go in the game150 folder! it wasn't mentioned in the step by step instructions! maybe you should mention it in your instructions buddy.
I now have another question! lol
in instruction 8. it says something about uninstalling flash 1 if you have flashed using a previous dev hook install.
I had devhook 0.50 with 2.71 SE C, does this mean I have to run the dev hook flash 1 removal?
cheers

Cheers to DARK_ALEX, BOOSTER and the eXophase! :)
If it's any help to your step by step guide for others to follow with 2.71 SE C.

I wonder if Sims 2 Pets will work now! and maybe Celabas Africa safari?
x3sphere
12-05-2006, 01:44 AM
Sims 2: Pets works fine I heard but about the safari game I believe there is a bad dump floating around. Someone with the UMD should test that one..
Anyway, I will update the guide with that info :)

sims 2 pets ran on my devhook 0.50 and indeed off the memory stick with 2.71SE C, thats until it got to actually "start a new game selection" it then just keeps playing the music and the memory cards red light busy light continually flashing but the game had actually frozen.
I dont know of anyone who has got Cabelas Africa safari hunts working! I agree that their are some bad dumps out their!
You dont know if you have a bad game dump or Devhooks got bugs! it's hard to distinguish
which party is to blame!
Torrent sites should take the dumps that are faulty off the downloads!
probably being paid by sony to keep them on their! lol
thanks again.

is there any chance of bricking ur psp when doing step 8. Does it just write to the f1 folder in ms0:/dh/301/f1 or does it write to ur psp's flash?

could be finished? Hit O and see if that takes you back to the dh menu. If not, shut your PSP off and turn it back on.
Make sure if you installed a flash1 config in the 2.82 devhook to remove that first..

Ah, found the answer! Replying to myself(and for people who could have same problem):
"this happens because, for some reason, sometimes a blank file gets saved in the f1/registry folder. To fix it, erase the f1 folder and copy the original one that came with devhook, remove the settings from flash, and then flash again"

Need to put the 1.5 reboot.bin in your "ms0:/dh/kd" folder. You can get it the same way you dumped 3.01, but just use the DATA.PSAR from the 1.5 EBOOT instead.
@Johnny: Yeah, its flash install. Just pick the option "install configfile to flash1" :)

not really :( Sony kinda screwed us with making the PS1 downloads require a PS3. Though I heard there will be another update sometime in January that will let us download the PS1 games directly to the PSP.

Anyway try this.. use the remove flash1 option in devhook since you already installed it to flash. Then copy the files in this zip to the "301\f1" folder on your memory stick.

Nope, I asked a few people who have a UP and they have the same problem. You need to boot from the original PSP nand (hold L during boot) and then if its 2.71 run Hen D and the dh launcher port for it which I have attached in this post.

Great job on the tutorial, scared be when it froze writing the flash file, but ijust hit O after it sat for about 10 minutes and it went to the menu, all went well.
only problem im having, and sorry, but i didnt see it in this thread, only as a question with no answer:
once in 3.01 menu, i try to use "return to 1.5" and it acts like its going to, and the psp just turns off.
i had to make a "kd" folder inside the "dh" folder in the root of my memory stick, and put the 1.5 reboot.bin in it.
are there other files i have to put in as well to have it return to 1.5 from 3.1?

ah yeah, he changed the folder paths from .50. The 1.5 reboot.bin should go in the ms0:/dh/05/kd folder.
still with 2.71SE it seems you don't need the 1.5 reboot.bin at all (unlike previous versions), so if it still doesn't work it could be a 1.5 bug..

The reboot.bin is automatically dumped if you did the PSAR Dumper part correctly..
Reason for just a black screen is one of two things - no reboot.bin, or you did not transfer over the dh folder from the devhook zip.
zeromaster: It would be in the one in the 301 dir

The reboot.bin is automatically dumped if you did the PSAR Dumper part correctly..
Reason for just a black screen is one of two things - no reboot.bin, or you did not transfer over the dh folder from the devhook zip.
zeromaster: It would be in the one in the 301 dir
still no reboot.bin file, i triple checked the entire zip and i tryed loading devhook again, still the same, can you please check to zip to make sure that the file is not hidden or that the file is actually there, or even better just zip the reboot.bin plz
also i noticed the zip contained a notepad file with a programming language, is the language VB/C++/C# and do i need to place this code anywhere?

hey, i am having the same problem with the black screen - i start up the emulation and it gives me a black screen, power eventually goes off. PSP is 1.5 and i do have the reboot.bin file in and I did copy devhook from the zip...got the zip from exophase.com website I presume that is the one you are meaning?
going to try a different ISO, it's strange because I managed to get an ISO working using an earlier loader, then that loader stopped working for the ISO file and now nothing will load it, so i know it can't be corrupt as it worked once!

Is this a black screen when starting the ISO or when starting Devhook?
the main reasons for black screen are
no reboot.bin in F0 folder
no pspbtcnf_dh.txt files in 3.0 KD folder
if you have both then we need to figure out what the problem is.

well, this is the thing, the black screen is when starting one ISO, so i loaded another iso that i've had working on earlier devhooks. this one loaded through but then the same screen the chap above is experiencing, the "Setting information is corrupted. Pressing O button to repair and restore default settings." came up, with the devhook menu over it, then it crashed. reboot file is in the folder, and the text files are in the 301/KD folder.
i had to restore default settings, and now devhook can't detect the flash1 files so presumably these have been purged?
i am tempted to give up on this and stick with older ISOs! maybe it's a memory stick problem? my 1GB mem stick is fine but I keep that for emulation and the odd ISO, haven't put the 0.51 stuff on it as i'm now slightly worried. though common sense dictates it can't possibly have messed up my memory stick as i have formatted it a few times.

Yeah you have to reinstall the flash1 files now, that should fix the blue screen issue.

I have devhook0.4X launcher for 2.71
I don't know what my firmware is as i don't know where to find that out and because i'm new to the psp homebrew world.
In my memory stick i have these Files:
"MEMSTICK.IND"
"._.Trashes"
".DS_Store"
"MSTK_PRO.IND"
And these Folders:
"PSP"
"ISO"
"dh"
".Trashes"
In the "PSP" folder i have the files and folders called:
"GAME"
"GAME150"
"MUSIC"
"PHOTO"
"SAVEDATA"
"SYSTEM"
"COMMON"
".DS_Store"
In the "ISO" folder i have the file:
"Your ISO and CSO files Go Here"
In the "dh" folder i have the folders:
"271F"
"kd"
In the "kd" folder there are 13 files which i won't name because i'll be here all day.
What do i need to do?
Do i need to get a devhook 0.51 launcher for 2.71SE-B?
So what do i do with these files and folders to get Devhook 0.51 updated onto my psp?

PSARDumper will not run under 2.8. You cannot run Devhook.
Do i need to get a devhook 0.51 launcher for 2.71SE-B?
Yeah, and copy the folders from the archive over to the root of your memory stick.
Do i need to get a devhook 0.51 launcher for 2.71SE-B?
You are either missing the reboot.bin in "301/f0" or did not copy over the prefixed dh text files from the .51 archive (pspbtcnf_dh.txt etc)

3.03 OE-C cannot run via Devhook, you need to upgrade your firmware to it. Just follow the readme included in the 3.03 OE-C archive to install, its pretty straightforward but if you have any questions just ask.
Also - there are no issues with running UMD's under 3.03 OE-C.

you can't run psardumper on 2.71.. its only for 1.5 (or any OE custom firmwares).
why not just downgrade to 1.5 and the upgrade to 3.10 OE-A? Devhook still works, and you can use psardumper.

you need to be on firmware 1.5 or any custom firmware version to run PSARDumper.
since you have a 3.01, you can upgrade to 3.03 and then downgrade to 1.5 following the guide here:

don't know.. it doesn't make much sense really. The error you are getting appears on firmware revisions that cannot run homebrew.
Also I just re-tested the archive to make sure the files were ok and DH booted fine on my PSP.
What I recommend is upgrading to 3.40 OE-A. It gives you all the benefits of DH plus added features like PSone emulation.
otherwise, if you don't want to, try doing this:
rename the %__SCE__DH051BETA folder to DEVHOOK%
rename the __SCE__DH051BETA folder to DEVHOOK
No idea if this will fix it, but I think your memory stick might be having problems with long folder names.
NinjaMaster

Cheers. I'll try a comp0lete reinstall and if no joy will go down the "no long file names" route although I feel this might make no difference as most of the ISO I ran under previous devhook version were long names. Failing that I'll try upgrading. Although when I am much much sober.

Glad you asked, for if you get an OE you no longer have a need for devhook, IMO, because it does almost everything DH does. There is a difference between 3.40oe-a and the official 3.40. The 3.40oe-a allows you to use IS0/CSOs and lets you use homebrew. And yes, you can downgrade back from 3.40oe-a.

Run PSARDumper on your PSP, once its loaded up press X to dump a sigchecked 3.11. Once its done your PSP will return to the main menu.
When you did this did you press X? It's really important to press X here, otherwise the dump won't work with DevHook.

what I'd do is delete all devhook files, and then go through the steps again. Sounds like something got corrupted.
DevHook is kinda buggy in regards to the menus and stuff. But, for just loading games, it works fine.

It's probably that the new Transformers game isn't supported by FW 3.11- you should just use the native ISO support in your respective CFW.

I would highly suggest upgrading to a custom firmware, such as 3.40OE-A, or 3.52M33, both which does everything 1.5 does and more- devhook is rarely updated, as far as I know, so that update may come slowly or never. Guides to upgrade your FW are HERE (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=383) for 3.40OE-A and HERE (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=2732) for 3.52M33.

it "mimics" the 3.11 firmware so you can play games that requires 3.11. and yes this Devhook works on 1.5.
but if you're on 1.5, i recommend you to upgrade to 3.52M33, which then you'll not have the problem with the firmware requirements.
HERE (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=2732) is the guide to upgrade to 3.52M33

You need to extract the PSARDumper download with a ZIP extracting utility. Then move both of the folders contained within to the specified GAME directory.

well the guide clearly states to put the two folders in the GAME folder, or GAME150 if you are running OE. I don't know which firmware you are running so you'll have to figure that out.
Ignore the C+D file. It's just a text file.

First of all, welcome to the forums. Second, please don't double post, and get a little patience. Third, you can't use this with official firmware 3.11- it EMULATES v3.11. You'll need to downgrade to 1.5 using THIS (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=2470) guide. You'll need a copy of Lumines.

Seems to be a known bug with 0.52 and 3.11.
You could always try installing a lower firmware version with DevHook, such as 3.03.

Hi guys I've tried a lot of different things before posting so as to make sure, but every time I use this or devhook 0.5 when it goes to reboot it hangs on a black screen then the power goes off. I tried different isos and the umd disk so its not that, I also tried choosing different firmwares and that didnt work either.
I can get devhook 0.44 to work perfectly so I really can't understand the problem..please help! Btw I have a 1.5 psp and I have never installed custom fws so its still a 'virgin' flash wise ;-)
Edit: this isn't a problem with unpacking the new firmware either as I've tested it 3 times already and everything goes ok, i get the f0 folder and move it. It seems to be a DEVHOOK problem :(
Edit2: I just upgraded to M33 3.52 and it works great! I recommend it to everyone. I was scared about flashing my psp but it all went really smoothly. Devhook is kinda dead in the scene I guess.

if you are using 3.52M33 then you don't need this. if have 3.52/1.5 mix as the devhook can only emulate up to 3.11.
You don't need it anymore if you have 3.52M33 :D

just one advice, are you on 1.5 now?
I would recommend using Custom firmware 3.52M33, that way you don't have to deal with devhook as 3.52M33 is a mix of 1.5kernal and the newer 3.52.

If DevHook is not showing up in the Game menu then you didn't copy over the PSP folder to your memory stick drive.

Does this game require a firmware higher than 3.11? Only games 3.11 and below will work on DevHook. Anything higher and you'll have to upgrade to custom firmware 3.52 M33.

Well here is the guide on converting a normal PSP battery to Pandora:
http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=3238
basically, it writes a special serial code to any battery, booting the PSP in service mode. Thing is, you'll need to know someone with a homebrew-capable PSP so they can convert the battery for you.
There is also another way, by purchasing an already-converted Pandora battery:
http://forums.exophase.com/showpost.php?p=19084&postcount=19
Probably this stuff is quite confusing if you are new to the PSP scene. But just ask if you have any questions.
The main difference between 1.5 and 3.52 is that 3.52 cannot run any homebrew applications due to security upgrades.

hello...so i am back with dumb questions. i have devhook enabling me to switch to version 3.11 but my game (Scarface which is a .cso file) will not work. i am not sure of the proper setup of devhook to allow me to play these games. do only .iso games work, my friend told me .cso should work as well. Is there any guide in this forum that would tell me how to set up my devhook properly? Sorry once again for littering the forum with my technically challenged questions

CSO files should work however do you know what firmware Scarface requires? Because if its higher than 3.11 the game will likely not work.

5. Extract the DATA.PSAR from the 3.11 update you've downloaded with PBP Unpacker. Once thats done, copy the DATA.PSAR over to the root of your memory stick.
Did you do this? Make you moved the DATA.PSAR to the correct spot. For example, if your memory stick drive was H: then DATA.PSAR would be located at H:/DATA.PSAR

Well it can't find the DATA.PSAR, so it's either not in the right spot or something is wrong with your memory stick.
Try formatting your memory stick on the PSP (this will clear all files so make sure you backup anything important) and then copy the files back over.

What firmware are you running? If it is a custom firmware then be sure to place the two psardumper folders in GAME150.

I`m running 3.11
And I don't have "GAME 150" folder, just a "GAME" folder.
So what should I do?
Thanks...

No, DevHook is for emulating firmware 3.11. You can't actually run DevHook on 3.11.
However it is possible to downgrade firmware 3.11 to 1.5 (which CAN run DevHook) if you have a copy of the game Lumines.

That's the DevHook menu... you can use it to change CPU speed, change ISOs, etc. To exit it just press HOME or close menu.

Well to start a game, you just press X or O on the UMD icon.
If the game requires a firmware higher than 3.11 it will not work.

Taking note of this step:
Run PSARDumper on your PSP, once its loaded up press X to dump a sigchecked 3.11. Once its done your PSP will return to the main menu.
Are you sure you pressed X? Also, did you select 3.11 from the firmware menu?

First of all why do you double post. Think that's going to make anyone answer your post faster?
ms0 is your memory stick. Should show up in My Computer if you're running Windows. You want to copy the three folders to the memory stick.

just put your ISO and CSO into ms0:/ISO, and then start it at Game -> Memory Stick when you're at the XMB.
