Got pwned by vista

Alright , I just got pwned by vista lol , The task bar isnt showing . I really havent been doing anything at all . I turn it down normally and I update it as soon as there is an update . Should I just make a recovery disc and just reformat ? or is there any way to bring it back , I tried switching wallpapers , themes and everything lol
