Well, any that you could run on any other homebrew-enabled version. You can run several different systems with emulators, a list found HERE (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=2662), and also any homebrew games/ports, such as rRootage, Hexen 2, Cave Story, and alot more, just do a little research, they're not hard to find, scout through our PSP News section 'n' such, you'll find alot of worthwhile homebrew.

Yup, it's perfectly fine to delete the oeupdmaker and oeflasher folders after you've installed the firmware.

Ok it sounds like a semi-brick. Have you messed with the flash0 lateley and have you tried pressing the brightness button when you turn it on.

Hmm, well, I would suggest using PSXPSP v1.2 (http://www.exophase.com/files/download.php?id=91), because you have to convert your PSX games differently with the higher versions, and this will do the trick.

scratch that, it figures that if i put it in the file for "game" it works. btw was running 3.03oe-b.

It was written that this should apply to version 1.5 and OE PSP firmwares. Could i actually use this procedure to my version 3.40 firmware PSP? I have never tried to change the version of my PSP since i bought it. Many thanks!

nope sorry. you have to upgrade to 3.50 (NOT 3.51/3.52) then downgrade with a copy of Lumines, then upgrade to 3.40OE-A. See if your friends or a store has Lumines get downgrade!

then failed while trying to start the second half of the firmware

So my firmware got HALF written.
The flash utility then shut down the PSP without any warning,
or any prompt to retry..
it just gave up on my pisp.

dang that sucks, when will people learn to read the instructions 5 times, and then read them again as they go thru the process? sorry to hear about bricking your psp though, hopefully u can get into the recovery menu and all will be well. good luck bro

As a last resort press the brightness button (the little TV next to the PSP logo). My recovery menu wasn't showing and as soon as I did this it showed up. However I wasn't bricked I'd just been playing with No-UMD. Worth a shot though for that .001% chance it works ;-)

Are you sure the folder path and filename is correct?

Folder path should be:

X:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE

And inside of the UPDATE folder is an EBOOT.PBP file, which is the 2.6 update.

If that's all correct go into the Game menu on your PSP and start the update.

No... this is an actual firmware update. But it will still run all your emulators.

Plus you can always revert back to 1.5.

I have an old original 1.5 FW PSP. I have been running emulators on it, and I found an old Japanese web browser that works for checking out sites on the Net. I have one UMD, but I've only used my PSP to play emulator games (lol, $200 PSP to play a $10 NES game)Anyway, I was just curious as to what was out there new for the PSP and I came across Dark Alex's amazing work, which lead me to this thread.

I have some quick questions, that I can't seem to find the answers to anywhere:

1. Yes, it's very easy to revert, we have a guide on how to do it here on the forum, very easily-accessible.

2. It does absolutely everything 1.5 does and more, quite simply put. It has built-in devhook which will emulate all the way up to whatever the custom firmware is, this being 3.40, which devhook only emulates to 3.11; It's also alot easier to tweak settings though the recovery menu; it has a recovery from semi-bricking; it has support for all homebrew and emulators 'n' such; you can flash custom themes, therefore customizing the look of your PSP's XMB. it does everything 3.40 does, being the built-in web browser, the RSS feeds, compatibility for h264 mp4's, WMA and Flash compatibility, and etc.

Also, there is little-to-no chance of bricking; that being said, there is no guarantee, but if you follow the direction 'n' such it's probably 99.9% chance that it won't brick.

I think I'm going to try this out later today and see what happens. As long as I can revert back to 1.5, I'm up for trying it.

Now I'm off to try and find that guide to downgrade back to 1.5. I need to see if it requires Lumines/GTA or whatever, since I don't have either one of those now.

Yup, that is how you downgrade from a custom firmware back to 1.5; this won't work for official firmwares, however. What official firmware are you using? Or are you still using 1.5?

Well, you can always use the web-based email stuff, like hotmail and yahoo 'n' such, those work in the PSP's web browser.

when i put the 340oeflasher and 340oeflasher% in my game150 folder and turn it on and goto the memory card start the 3.40 oe-a firmware install it goes to the program and says hit x to start i hit x and it says " Opening and validating dxar file ... not existing or invalid dxar for this update " , im running currently 3.03 oe-c have tried another memory card and same results Any help is appriciated

try to make the DATA.DXAR, and this time see the whole process, and especially keep an eye on the SHA-1 validation process, and see if the results come out in green text or red text.

Fake memory sticks are slower than real ones, so when you're creating the DXAR, it's putting a lot more stress on the memory stick than a simple save read / write. That's why most fake memory sticks fail at this point.

I have the 3.03 OE-C and I see a GAME150 and GAME303 folder. Do I still use the GAME150 folder to transfer 340oeflasher? Just want to be ablsolutely sure before I start this and not brick my PSP. ALso does upgrading to 3.40 solve the problems of "GAME COULD NOT BE STARTED (80020321)" popping up with my 3.03 version? Thanks.

Upgrade to 3.50 (NOT 3.51 3.52) then downgrade with a copy Lumines with the guide HERE (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=2470).
Or Use a Pandora Battery, make it HERE (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=3238), and then downgrade to 1.5.

Afterwards, upgrade to 3.40OE-A with this guide, or 3.52M33 with THIS (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=2732) guide, and update to 3.52M33-4 HERE (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=3185).
and that's about it!

did you follow the guides step by step?
I believe you pressed the UMD update icon, on your main screen you have to go to GAME -> memory stick.
or you only put in the 3.40 official update and ran it without the necessary files.

First of all we don't allow discussion of downloaded games here. A lot of games available on the net are hacked up to work with older loaders - such as DevHook - and do not run correctly in OE / M33. That's why you should always buy the game and dump it yourself.

Secondly I would recommend installing 3.52 M33 (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=2732), and then installing the 3.52 M33-4 patch (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=3185). Once you've gotten all that installed, press HOME in the PSP main menu screen (XMB) and toggle the ISO driver to Sony NP 9660. Generally this gives the best compatibility with dumped ISOs.

You can go straight to 3.52 M33.

Also to dump your own games on 3.52 M33-4, go into the same menu I told you about by pressing HOME in the XMB and switch the USB device to UMD. Once you've done this - just go to USB connection as normal and your UMD will appear as an ISO in the file browser and you can copy it to your hard drive.

Then when you're finished, simply change the USB device setting back to memory stick.

(my iso is not inside psp file but its inside that psp removable drive, so afterall is still inside my psp) the problem is the other 2 game showed in the game menu when i play my psp but the final fantasy didnt. the 2 other games showed 800200321 error -.-

Did you download the 3.40 update from this site? It's not a RAR or ZIP, no need to use WinRAR.

Anyways, 3.40 OE-A is outdated now. You should install at least 3.52 M33:

Hi... I am a total newbie...

I got my "cracked ver" PSP in the beginning of this year... I suppose it has been flashed to a third-party firmware upon buying it...

I checked the board and it has IC0003 wording. Also from the "Settings -> System Informations" it shows that my PSP is having 3.03 OE-B of firmware... Is it the one that Alex created?

Anyway... I tried to download the latest 3.40 OE-A...

I place the two folders into PSP\GAME150 (Which I manually added)
Also I have put 1.50 PBP and 3.40 PBP into "oeupdmaker"

But I couldnt see any update maker on the "Game" menu...

Wat's wrong?

Hi... I am a total newbie...

I got my "cracked ver" PSP in the beginning of this year... I suppose it has been flashed to a third-party firmware upon buying it...

I checked the board and it has IC0003 wording. Also from the "Settings -> System Informations" it shows that my PSP is having 3.03 OE-B of firmware... Is it the one that Alex created?

Anyway... I tried to download the latest 3.40 OE-A...

I place the two folders into PSP\GAME150 (Which I manually added)
Also I have put 1.50 PBP and 3.40 PBP into "oeupdmaker"

But I couldnt see any update maker on the "Game" menu...

Wat's wrong?

Yes, 3.02OE-B is a custom firmware created by D_X.

About your problem, your 1.50 kernel in your recovery menu is probably set to the GAME folder. Just put the folders into the GAME folder instead of the GAME150, it should work.

Try formatting your memstick with the PSP (remember to take the savegames 'n' such off of it first, however:p) and see if that helps. It should recreate all the folders 'n' such.

First, you need to convert the bin / cue file to a PSP compatible format. Take a look at the guide here:

Some titles are incompatible but most games will work fine.

Please don't double post. This guide won't work with official firmware. If you read the first step, it says that you must be running 1.5 or custom firmware to proceed.

The corrupted data icons are normal and it has nothing to do with the two EBOOT files you downloaded.

It is caused by the two folders 340oeflasher% and oeupdmaker%. But you must not delete the corrupted data or else the program won't work.

hi there i'am traying to upgrade from 2.6 to 3.4 to my psp with the instactions and when i do the Update maker my psp is shuts down, and when i open it there is no DATA.DXAR file in the oeupdmaker folder. what i am doing wrong :confused1:

You have to install custom firmware in order to use this.
Good news, you can install custom firmware!
Update to 2.71 (http://72.29.74.204/%7Eexophase/external/EBOOT_271.PBP) first, then use the 2.71 downgrader (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=563), to go to 1.5, then you may proceed with this 3.40OE guide. :D

But do take more notice in the instructions, there are some different steps for different motherboards.

and before you downgrade, backup your keys first with KeyCleaner v1.4 (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=1238), so you won't have hareware problems in the future.

Make sure you have a UMD in the drive, 3.40 OE won't run most ISO files properly unless NO-UMD is turned off and a UMD is in the drive.

You CAN upgrade to 3.52M33 (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=2732), along with the 3.52M33-4 (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=3185) patch, and that should be good enough if you're not playing any really new games.

I read something about PS3 integration, but would you (or anyone knowledgeable enough reading my drivel) be kind enough to elaborate - or perhaps point me at a URL that'll do the trick?

VSH Menu is one, (a menu at the XMB that can change the CPU speed etc, without having the trouble of going to the Recovery Menu)

Sony np9660 - An official ISO Loader, with that you can play games withOUT an UMD inserted. XD

Stable - Bug fixes, a few more custom firmware tweaks, etc.

You don't have to upgrade if you think it's trouble, as I stayed on 3.40OE-A myself until I had to play this new game. (Patapon) :D

For "Patapon", you need 3.71M33 with Sony np9660 UMD Mode.
But to get 3.71M33, you need to upgrade to 3.52M33-4 First!

I'd perfer 3.71M33 either than 3.90M33 as there's a memory stick patch you need to do, and you can't revert back to old firmwares (yet). If you really want to play Patapon (which I recommend playin, it's not bad) upgrade to 3.52M33-4 first.

And do you have MSN, Yahoo IM? That way I could guide you through to 3.71M33. If not, I could guide here. :D (Though through messenger saves up a lotta trouble XD)

Star Wars PSP... isn't that a Slim? 3.40 OE-A came out before the Slim was released - it's not compatible. What firmware are you on?

Are you running official firmware? If not then you did not place the update maker in the correct folder (GAME150).

3.80M33-5 is higher and better updated than 3.40OE-A.
There's no need to go backwards, right?

Slims don't have 1.5kernel. Any firmware older than 3.60 will not work on the slim.
So yes, this is only for phat psp.

nevermind, problem solved. and another problem created. when i run the flasher i get like 10 "PANIC" prompts and it starts writing my 1.50 subset and gets stuck on zero. Grr.
