Here is a step by step guide for installing 3.40 OE-A. Please note that you must be running 1.50, or any of the OE series firmware to begin this installation.

First grab the 3.40 OE-A files (http://exophase.com/files/psp/340_oea.rar).

1. Copy oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% to X:/PSP/GAME if you are in 1.50, or to X:/PSP/GAME150 if you are running OE.

2. Now download the 1.50 and 3.40 updates which you can grab below:
1.50 Update (http://exophase.com/files/psp/150.PBP)
3.40 Update (http://files.exophase.com/psp/340.PBP)

3. Place these 2 updates in the oeupdmaker folder and ensure they are named exactly like this 150.PBP and 340.PBP. Now navigate to the game menu on your PSP and execute the update maker. It will take a few minutes to create the file, once finished a DATA.DXAR will be found in the oeupdmaker folder.

Please note: If you get an error message that says "Invalid SHA-1" when creating the DXAR do not proceed further. This means you have a faulty memory stick and a corrupt DATA.DXAR was created. Start over using a different memory stick.

4. Copy 340oeflasher and 340oeflasher% to X:/PSP/GAME if you are in 1.50, or to X:/PSP/GAME150 if you are running OE.

5. Copy the DATA.DXAR created in step 3 to the 340oeflasher folder.

6. Navigate to the game menu on your PSP, run the 3.40 OE-A flasher and follow the on screen instructions. Once done your PSP will now be running 3.40 OE-A :)

these instructions are awesome!
i can now play Vagrant Story on my PSP. probably the best game i've played onthe damn thing. i don't understand why Sony hasn't done this yet, if they were smart they'd take all the PSX games and put them on compilation UMD's. but unfortunately that probably won't happen.

Thank you

Its the folder path, if you don't have it just make a GAME150 folder.

currently no you can't use custom topmenu in 3.10 because of some changes Sony made, but I know people who are working on it. Fix shouldn't be too far off..

Make the folder GAME150 under psp... put the oeupdmake and oeupdmake% in there, under oeupdmaker but 150.PBP, and 310.PBP. now, run this program it will make ur DATA.DXAR file, then add 310oeflasher and 310oeflasher% and put the DATA.DXAR file in the 310oeflasher file, run the update, and ur now on 3.10 oe A, if this doesnt work.....delete all files can try again, took me 2 times for mine to work!

then follow the same directions on updating to 3.10 oe A,
BUT when it says put files 150.PBP, and 310.PBP, DO NOT USE 310.PBP, use the old file 3.03, you can download this file from sony.com, download it and change the file name to 303.PBP, then put both 150.PBP, and 303.PBP, in the oeupdmaker, run the program, get the DATA.DXAR, then put folders 303oeflasher and 303oeflasher% in GAME150, and put the DATA.DXAR file in 303oeflasher and run it,... I am currently running PSP version 3.10, I've attached a "terrible" photo showing what I'm running.

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-6/249532/Feb05_0001.jpg

My question is, can I do this 3.10 Oe-A update? My goal is play PS1 games on my PSP. I used IcedTea 1.1 to convert my PS1 game. Conversion went fine, I uploaded to my PSP, the PSP sees the file and when I select it I get "To use this content, you must activate the system"

I was running 2.6, when I tried to run my PS1 game it read "File is corrupt" not thinking I updated my 2.6 to a 3.10 using the Network Update on the PSP. After the update it read, ""To use this content, you must activate the system". I feel like I'm almost there, but I'm sure one of you will point out, that I have a way to go. Any help is appriciated. Thanks.

Here is a step by step guide for installing 3.10 OE-A. Please note that you must be running 1.50, 2.71 SE, 3.02 OE or 3.03 OE to begin this installation.

First grab the 3.10 OE-A files (http://exophase.com/files/psp/310oe_a.rar).

1. Copy oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% to X:/PSP/GAME if you are in 1.50, or to X:/PSP/GAME150 if you are running 2.71 SE, 3.02 OE or 3.03 OE.

2. Now download the 1.50 and 3.10 updates which you can grab below:
1.50 Update (http://exophase.com/files/psp/150.PBP)
3.10 Update (http://du01.psp.update.playstation.org/update/psp/image/us/2007_0130_81b8ca8f63db44996f6f5fbf03c5dee1/EBOOT.PBP)

3. Place these 2 updates in the oeupdmaker folder and ensure they are named exactly like this 150.PBP and 310.PBP. Now navigate to the game menu on your PSP and execute the update maker. It will take a few minutes to create the file, once finished a DATA.DXAR will be found in the oeupdmaker folder.

4. Copy 310oeflasher and 310oeflasher% to X:/PSP/GAME if you are in 1.50, or to X:/PSP/GAME150 if you are running 2.71 SE, 3.02 OE or 3.03 OE.

5. Copy the DATA.DXAR created in step 3 to the 310oeflasher folder.

6. Navigate to the game menu on your PSP, run the 3.10 OE-A flasher and follow the on screen instructions. Once done your PSP will now be running 3.10 OE-A :)

Well first off you need to find youself a GTA liberty citys with verison 2.00 on it so you can downgrade you psp to verison 1.50, which you can find on Dark alex's website (google it)
After downgrading your psp, you can then update to 3.10 oeA also found on Dark Alex's website. ANY FORM OF DOWNGRADING OR UPDATING YOU PSP TO OE, has a chance of bricking your psp, killing it, game over.
Downgrade you psp and get back to us, ask all the questions you have and ill try to answer them for you.

yeah I should write up a guide.. anyway first you need to check if the PSP is a TA-082 with this pic:

acetken
02-08-2007, 06:56 AM
Allright. Using an "Easy updater" I seem to have upgraded my firmware to 2.80 and HEN-D doesn't do anything but turn my system off. Fabulous. Now what?

x3sphere
02-08-2007, 06:57 AM
you will need to get the files from here:

http://www.noobz.eu/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=35&Itemid=88888898

starting Hen is easy, just copy the files from MS_ROOT to your memory stick drive, then go into the photo viewer and select the folder HEN_280. It may take a few tries for it to boot, but if you get a Blue screen that means it was successful. Now follow the instructions for the 2.8 downgrader on that page.

Keep note of the following step in the downgrader readme

- If running a ta-082 PSP execute the 2.80 idstorage changer. It needs 75% battery.
It will change some keys of your idstorage needed to downgrade the ta-082.

It works! Beautiful! (My screen kept turning off. I had to plug and unplug the power cable to get the screen to display when I was using 1.5. Irritating. 3.10 A' seems to have all that fixed.)
So where are all the extra options?
I downloaded a backup of ATV Offroad Fury since it came with my PSP (And it's legal to do so), but when I try to run it, I get "The game could not be started. (80020321)"
Any ideas? It's a .cso file and I put it in the ISO directory. I assume I did that correctly?

EDIT: Answered my own question! You MUST have a UMD in the drive to get rid of the error, but it works! Woo hoo!

Support for PlayStation Network titles had been expanded

Support for the MPEG-4 AVC format has been added under [LocationFree Player]

[Dynamic Normalizer] has been added as a feature under [Sound Settings] in [Settings]

[Conserve Memory] has been added as an option in [View Settings] under [Internet Browser].

Also a third stage of light..Just as if you had it charging, you can now do with out a charging.

Cool. Picked up SSX On Tour today (It was 9.99. Why not.), so I downloaded a copy off of Demonoid to put on the memstick. (Load times are MUCH better on ATV, so why not?) Anyway, I tried to convert the iso I got as I did with my ATV: ARF game using CDVD-IML2ISO 5.0, but I get an error about it being a PS2 DVD iso? Errr? Inside the iso, it's very clear the game is for PSP. Is there any way to bypass that error and just compress the stupid thing anyway? Maybe a better program? I dunno...

never used that program before, try another one of the CISO compress programs, theres tons of them out there.

Tried another one and it worked like a charm. Man, you're incredibly helpful!

Now I've got a friend who wants to upgrade her PSP to the DA firmware. Problem is, she's got 2.81 installed and from what I read, we need Vice City to do it, right? Is there another way?

Once done your PSP will now be running 3.10 OE-A :)

ok i have 3.10 from the network update..i have no oeupdmaker folder...so where so i put the B]150.PBP[/B] and 310.PBP. ?????

Hi guys,

I'm new in this stuff, and i have a big problem;

I buy a PSP (one year ago) and it comes whit FW 2.71, then i downgrade to 1.50 and install devhook.
everything works 100%.

Then yesterday (14/02/20007) i upgrade to FW 3.10 OE-A then 3.10 OE-A2 (the little patch).
Now, the only game i can play is the PES 5.

For example,
- Burnout , the game freezes in "loanding" screen.
- Flight Academy, the games load, and if i start any mission, the game crash and the PSP shutdown.

If, there is no solution to my problem, is possible to downgrade to FW 2.71 again ?
Because one of my original UMD (F1 2006) ask if i want to "update" to FW 2.71 when i start the game.

Thanks in advance to all

PS: Sorry for my bad english

I'm having an odd problem. I started on a 2.71 and went through the tutorial to upgrade to 3.10 OE-A then I did the patch to the revised edition. Now my psp shows that its system software is 3.10 OE-A' , unfortunately I can't seem to get anything to boot. Even after installing the new firmware I was unable to run the PSP Network Config Backup. This, along with any emulator gives me the "The game could not be started. (8002014C)" error. Besides this, holding R while booting doesn't give me any sort of recovery menu.

What should I do?

No, you must use popstation to convert the PS1 iso into an eboot. Give PSX2PSP a try

then once finished converting, transfer the game over into your GAME folder.

for example RE3 <pspdrive>:/PSP/GAME/RE3/EBOOT.PBP

ok, I downloaded PSX2PSP, I convert ps1 iso into an eboot, (this case the game is FF7 disc 1) I make a folder called FF71 and I transfer the folder into the GAME folder, so the url was this:

<pspdrive>:/PSP/GAME/FF71/EBOOT.PBP.

On the PSP GAME MENU, there were something called HOT SHOT GOLF 2, but when I enter it, this message appear:

The reasons, 1 said it was corrupted (the one I mention earlier) another one says The game cannot be loaded, or simply the screen just went black, and nothing happends (for this reason, the only way to escape was throught the Home button). Hi all,

Well, thanks to everyone who helped, I'm now running on v1.50, and am in the process of upgrading to 3.10 OE-A'. Problem is, the 150.PBP & 310.PBP files add up to 34.1MB, which obviously won't fit onto the boggo 32MB stick you get with the PSP - D'oh! Nobody mentioned that!

I'm off now to get a bigger stick - does it necessarily _have_ to have 'Magicgate', though? From writeups, it seems that's just for copy-protected data - or am I completely off-the-mark here?

Thanks again. =]

Just to confirm with u the file 3.10 Update that u put here is the EBOOT.PBP right.
So, I need to rename it to 310.PBP correct...thanks

Does not seem normal although I have a Sandisk memory stick and I've heard the Sony ones are slower.

it would be a good idea to format your memory stick clean then run the update maker

yeah just power off the PSP the update maker does nothing with the flash. If its still taking ~25mins after format I would consider trying a different memory stick

I have a friend that bought the same PSP that I bought. FW 2.71 w/TA-082. But he upgrade to 2.82 cause he didn't knew about 3.10OE-A. Its not the downgrade that worries me, is the motherboard of the PSP. If I'm correct, you have to upgrade the frimware to 3.03 and then downgrade to 1.50. but Im not sure what to do with the mother board. Do I have to do something first with the motherboard, or I only need to run the downgrader? Can ya give me a hint?

Everything went fine, the DATA.DXAR was OKAY. DON'T TELL ME IT'S BRICKED, is it?

the problem is that 1.52 cannot run homebrew. you will need to upgrade to 2.71, then downgrade to 1.5. Downgrading from 2.71 is very easy, just follow the guide here (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=563).

Hi,
I am new to this, so please bare with me.
I have bought a psp at version 1.5 off a friend an he already had "fastloader" and "umd emulator" on the memory card supplied. can i change to version 3.10 safely and still play the games i have been given with my psp?
if so what do i need to remove from the setup folders etc to start the process successfully?
is it worth performing a "format memory stick" or will i just loose stuff i actually need to carry on playing the .iso games i have?

cheers

Formate deletes everything, No it wont delete the files you need. 1.5 to 3.10 oe is a very simple update. Yes you can play your normal games on 3.10oe.

is it possible that it didn't work because i copy the oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% only, ran it and got DATA.DXAR, then i copied 310oeflasher and 310oeflasher%, copied DATA.DXAR, and ran the flasher.

would there be any problem if i didn't copy oeupdmaker, oeupdmaker%, 310oeflasher, 310oeflasher% into the memory stick at the same time?

you should take it out....cause the UMD being in the drive is making the psp automatically go into the game....if you have it out it'll go to the XMB.

although saying that, even if you had a game auto-loading,it shouldnt of froze up...unless the CPU speed wasnt set right....that happened to me and my copy of GTA:LCS where i had the cpu set to a higher speed and it just stayed at a black screen.

for some reason there is a problem with the game you are playing.

your PSP isn't bricked, its just booting straight to the game and going to a black screen

to get the game working, make sure you have the same recovery config as me (hold R during PSP boot)

Plain modules: Disabled
Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO: Disabled
Use isofs driver: Disabled
Use NO-UMD: Disabled

nope, its not possible to do anything with sony's official v3.11 firmware yet.you can only really wait for a downgrader to come about or to swap your son's psp with someone else's who is running a lower firmware.

opening the update or flashing the 1.50 subset?

If it stopped while flashing there's a high chance you bricked.. probably due to a fake memory stick. All you can do is just leave it there plugged into the AC for a few more hours and hope it finishes..

nope, cause the 1.50 subset is what contains recovery etc.. use a different memory stick next time you flash. if you can, return that sony 2GB and get a sandisk instead.. they have much faster read / write speeds.

Those settings can be found in the recovery menu (hold R while booting up your PSP)

As for folders.. here are the main ones:

ms0:/ISO -> all your ISO games go here

ms0:/PSP/GAME150 -> place homebrew applications here

ms0:/PSP/GAME -> PS1 games

its because you have a slow (possibly fake) memory stick. users with these memory sticks have reported that it took them 2 hours + to create the DXAR.

I have a 2GB sandisk myself, and it only takes around 10 minutes.. so I recommend you try using a different ms.

Those will be found on the flash, not the memory stick. Use a program like PSP Filer to replace them, but be careful as writing to the flash can brick your PSP.

1.50 Update (http://72.29.74.204/~exophase/external/150.PBP)
3.10 Update (http://du01.psp.update.playstation.org/update/psp/image/us/2007_0130_81b8ca8f63db44996f6f5fbf03c5dee1/EBOOT.PBP)

3. Place these 2 updates in the oeupdmaker folder and ensure they are named exactly like this 150.PBP and 310.PBP. Now navigate to the game menu on your PSP and execute the update maker. It will take a few minutes to create the file, once finished a DATA.DXAR will be found in the oeupdmaker folder.

Please note: If you get an error message that says "Invalid SHA-1" when creating the DXAR do not proceed further. This means you have a faulty memory stick and a corrupt DATA.DXAR was created. Start over using a different memory stick.

I'm trying to do this update for the 1st time, but it doesnt seem to be working. What am i doing wrong?

I get to step 3. but when i go the the game menu on the PSP, i dont have "update maker". I have 2 "Corrupted Data" files on the MS.

What am i doing wrong? In step 1 where it says "copy oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker%" does that mean I make new folders called oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% under X:/PSP/GAME?

Thanks, You guys are great!

those two folders are included in the 3.10 OE-A archive, you are supposed to just copy them over. I guess you created the folders yourself because that would result in the two corrupted data icons.. so make sure you are copying them from the archive.

It can be able to run ISO without UMD, however, if you hold the psp. The next time when you turn on the psp again, the game will hang and the psp will be closed.

Gameboots are the opening animation that displays when you start up any game or homebrew.

As for your flash space problem.. I don't know, not much you can do.. delete the internet browser (that will free at least 1MB), unused fonts, etc. The PSP flash doesn't have much space, only around 24MB total.

small how? PS1 games by default won't fill the entire screen.. that's normal. You need to go into the pops configuration and set the video options to full screen.

Hi guys. Relative newbie here.

Purchased a new PSP today, firmware was 2.71. Aware that I didn't want to upgrade to anything past 3.03, I upgraded to 2.81 so I could play the bundled game, otherwise I'd have an otherwise pretty paper weight.

I want to be running the 3.10OE-A firmware... what would be the best way of going about this? That is to say, should I downgrade to 1.50 and go to 3.10OE-A from there (I have a friend with GTA LCS) - and risk a brick - or should I just upgrade from 2.81 to the next best version from which I can safely update to 3.10OE-A? Exactly which version of 3.03OE do I need, as I've found about 6 different versions so far! Can anyone provide any answers, or even better, links?

Thanks guys. Apologies for the newbie questions, just wanted to get my PSP up to speed. Can't wait to start playing FF6, Tenchu, Bushido Blade... oooh. It tingles.

edit: by the way, it's one of those TA-082 motherboards or something, there's a number, 1003, and some letters visible when I open the UMD hatch, in the top right corner. If that makes any difference. I've done a bit of background reading, though obviously not enough :)

You'll need to upgrade to 3.03 then run the downgrader here:

That will get you to 1.5, then you can safely update to 3.10 OE-A by following the guide here:
