No offense but I choose a PSP and a beating from 5 people over a DS with a game .. PSP is better hands down , The hell I wanna play brain age for? I don't want no shitty friend codes? PSP wins becuase of the power homebrew and all the homebrew devolpers that make stuff for the PSP , litterly if you just like homebrew on PSP , you won't need to buy a game .. I havent heard of any DS homebrew? CS on the psp ? It's out there , Quake on the PSP? It's out there , Emulators ? Yes , SNES , NES and the mallchucken list goes on. PSP doom , PSP hexen . i never use the media side of the psp....only ever really for games....
the ds is great for a load of games like Metroid Prime Hunters,Megaman ZX, FF3 and FF4,New Super Mario Bros,Lunar Knights and the Castlevania games.

however the PSP has a load of great games too like Megaman Maverick Hunter X, Crisis Core:FF7, Killzone:Liberation, Wipeout Pure, Tekken DR and then it has the Homebrew stuff :D

Remakes FTL

New Super Mario Brothers wasn't a remake....and FF3 was a remake of a game that was never released outside of Japan....also you do realise how many early PSP games were rehashes of PS2 games?

Not a fan of friend codes, would've been better if Nintendo just displayed an age gate before going online. That would protect them from any liability issues.

Not all games have to use them though. For example in Brawl there is a online mode that won't use friend codes but doesn't support chat.

no,New Super Mario Brothers was a brand new game with a 3d graphics engine set in a 2d gameworld. very very good game if a bit short i thought.

and yes,you could get FF3 if you wanted but it would be on the NES and in Japanese.I don't have a NES and I know no Katakana or Kanji so that option is out for me.

and the DS has a vast library of quality games that aren't remakes or quirky ideas like brain training or cooking mama. I would suggest to anyone to try and play through Megaman ZX and say the DS isn't for Hardcore Gamers.

I would suggest to anyone to try and play through Megaman ZX and say the DS isn't for Hardcore Gamers.

HAH! No joke! Also, Etrian Odyssey is a game that REEKS of oldskool-hardcore-goodness... Love that game.

Oh, and also, I guess I haven't taken a stand for/against either yet... I'mma have to go with responses similar to MI and x3- I personally like each of them for different reasons. I absolutely can't get enough homebrew on the PSP, I like the fact that I can watch my Anime 'n' such on there, but also there are some good games for it, albeit they're fairly hardcore/nerdy (references D&D:Tactics, Final Fantasy Tactics:WotL, and Disgaea:AoD{due out later this month, I'm salivating for that one}). But there are also so many creative, inventive and just plain fun games for the DS. Also, I have ports of Angband and Rogue for the DS, that's enough homebrew for me:biggrin:

Better games: There is more then Brain Age. Tell me, how many good games are there on the PSP?

Better Looking: The DS Lite kills the PSP Slim in looks.

Better Made: I have dropped my DS 3 times now, and it works fine. PSP can't say that.

And about the home brew, it's only good if you are downloading ROM's or ISO's, which are illegal any way you look at it.

Better made eh ? What about your crimson screens , Do we need to bring that up . Dropped 3 times now! wow I've dropped my psp at least 15 times and it worked . Homebrew not all people download ISO , roms . Go to QJ and look at all the homebrew psp games . Syphon Filter just got a 9.5 , Jeanne D'arc I heard was pretty good , I liked coded arms on the PSP , Daxter was very good . GTA stories games were sick and you know it. I don't see any real sandbox games on the DS .

Anyway, it is honestly a fair fact to say that PSP is a lot less durable than the DS, though. The UMD drive, the big-ass screen, etc. roe's just a cheater:p

Well I only have a psp but have also played ds a bit I'd still go with psp I might get a ds eventually but I just love playing old school games finishing or replaying old ps1 games it's just sweet. It's just way more modder friendly and the games are a bit more grown up. I'd probably have to say if I didnt mod my psp though it would be a ds i think..... i think before I modded my psp it would just sit around getting dust till I got a new game which wore off in a week. Not saying ds wouldnt do the same but my friends have ds' not psp's. But of course I dont see them playing them since pokemon maybe it's a sign. Psp is my vote.

Didn't read lol was doing my homework ,The only rom I downloaded for my PSP was super mario world , I had a legit copy when I was younger although downloading makes me lag in online games :(

I dunno... seems PSP has more available applications and homebrews, emulations... and it can even GPS... SKYPE.... internet.. and more... I used a DS once or twice and hated the way it plays....

but the ONE major reason why I would go with DS is..... they keep making remakes of my favourite Square Soft/Enix games... such as the FF 3, 4 & 6... and now chrono trigger.... PSP have such poor game selections...

but i find my psp more useful than a DS.

so i'll have to go with PSP.... but I will definitely get a DS when it drops down to $99 or less.

The DS is cool in my opinion because of homebrews able to make use of the touchscreen
and a very SMALL selection of games are fun that I can tolerate for more than 5 minuntes.
EX. Children of mana, castlevania games. However, because of the limited time I can game these days the PSP gets all of my time due to what Chilly has mentioned above plus, NJ's wonderful CPS1/2 MVSPSP.
The PSP is a powerhouse where the DS is a playhouse.
IMO the split screen get really annoying as I get hooked into a game then i'm like damn always having to look back and forth between both screens.
It should have been 1 giant screen like the PSP with touch capability.
The DS has been passed down to my 3 year old now :)

I've used my DS as an MP3 player before, it plays them pretty well, although you will need to use headphones as i admit the speakers on the DS aren't fantastic. You can also put videos on the DS, although i've not actually done so myself. I'm pretty sure you can play Snes games on there also.

I've not actually bothered with any of this as there are hundreds of decent NDS titles that i just play instead, but the option for homebrew and emulation is there.

As for my prefered choice, it has to be the DS, the catalogue of games is vastly superior, and if you get an Edge card then you can do more or less whatever you want with your Ds.

My PSP hasn't been picked up for 2 years until last night, when i decided on a whim to play around with homebrew and try putting custom firmware on. Now that is has FFVIII on it i'm definately going to give it some love :D

But yeah, i'd say the DS wins hands down myself as if we're ignoring all the fancy apps we can make them use, and just looking at the actual games avaliable on the system, the DS just has so much more.

I started out with a DS trying to run SNES NES etc, the thing is with the emulators it only uses 1 of the DS screens the touch screen is options and etc.
On top of that most SNES is really SLOW on DS. So one day a light bulb went off in my head why the hell am I trying to emulate on a DS when a PSP has a much bigger better screen plus faster CPU'S.
BAM so I started reading the forums and downgraded my phat with Chilly Willy's corruption free downgrader. It was such an awesome experience. Then I loaded up some emulators and WOW have never went back since.
The DS is passed on to my son and no matter how he treats it I could care less :laugh:

Never had a ds but i do not think i ever will, to me the PSP has far more processing power and the games are pitched at a little older. Granted the DS has more quality titles.

The flaw though with PSP is the limited quality games range, there spread to far apart.

So far my PSP has been a games console, a tv, music player, movie player and a sat nav - i just think that can't be beaten.

I wont stray far from the Playstation path, even though as a consumer i'm given short shift. :mad1:by SCE.
