a way to increase my wifi range?...

i have a Broadcom PCMIA BCM4318 card in my linux laptop and i can get it to pick up mum's bf's wireless network but only if im close to the flat....a lot closer than the part of my house that is closest to the flat....

so if anyone can find some way of boosting the range,would be great. :D

would mean near constant access for me. :P

You COULD try accessing her router and raising the signal's strength (some routers have that, others don't)

hmm...just gave me an idea...scanned there and there was another AP about...trying to use that as a repeater...lol.doubt it would work though...thing is that my psp can pick up about 6 AP's outside my house including mum's bf's router and in the house it can pick up 3 but the card itself can't.so looking for something to boost the card itself...or maybe use the PSP as a AP?...doubt that could work...

There's no homebrew for network repeating on the PSP, unless iRShell does it or something; I've searched all da internets, far and wide.

ok,i know this is a double post but i seriously need some help/advice on this...thing is that i want to mod the pcb to attach a directional antenna or boost it because the signal is pretty weak.

so any ideas how to mod it or what?....i was looking for a diagram of the PCB to try and see where the antenna was so maybe i could attach something to that to boost the signal...

havent really been able to find any pictures of the PCB so i'll take a pic later and put it up...maybe that will help

ok,so here's some pics of the PCB of the card....

i'm guessing the antenna is made of the gold contacts at the end there?....theres 16 on each side....any idea why?...or what i could do with it?...

nevermind,i've decided just to wait til monday when i should be getting about £250 in my bank.i'll look up a stronger card and get one then.
