Indeed, a strange problem.

Whenever I watch Youtube videos or any video for that matter, it lags until it is fully loaded, even then it randomly lags and I have to pause the video and unpause it until it lags again.

Also I have the problem when I play flash games. Even on the lowest quality I get bad lag off and on.

I've tried different browsers (Opera, Firefox (My main one) and IE) and even reinstalling and that doesn't help.

I've noticed the CPU usage and memory flies high when doing those things as well.

Any ideas?

Well, sounds to me you either need a better computer or you need to clean it up.

Yeah perhaps your vid card is too weak? I have that problem in the net cafe, their computers aren't that good...

I too suffer from that too, but I think its because of the flash plugin >.> maybe you should update THAT

Well I'm sure its not the video card, I mean I have a ATI Radeon Mobility 7500 64MB, so it can't really be that bad, I never had this problem before, though I may need to clean it up a bit.

Also I'll try updating.

I have the latest drivers.

Also I reinstalled flash (I had the latest version) and it still lags :S I also did a clean up and it still does.

I really wish I could figure out whats causing this...

If it is lagging only when loading perhaps it has something to do with the hard drive? Does the access light start flashing when it lags?

Try de-fragging too.

Well its not only when its loading... well yeah with videos it does, but also when I'm watching them it will start to lag then I pause and unpause and it stops lagging then randomly starts up again.

Also when I'm playing a game (Lets say, Portal: The Flash Version) it will start to lag and I get like 2-3 FPS when it normally should run at about 11-20. Even on the lowest quality.

I uninstalled my Anti-Virus (NOD32) and it seems to stop lagging, but only on certain videos. The games still lag and most videos do. And the laccess light doesn't seem to be flashing, it just flashes like normal when I am doing things.

Random videos don't lag when they are loading for some reason now I've noticed o_O

Well, WHAT you removed was insignificant- the fact that you did in fact remove something and it sped up is a testament to the fact that you need to clean crap up. You only have 256MB RAM, correct? That's not NEARLY enough.

Also, you should probably reinstall NOD32 or prepare for it to get so raped with virii and spyware that NOTEPAD will lag. Just a suggestion.

or avira

try formating your hard drive and start from scratch, or make yourself a special edition of windows XP using nlite, to be lighter for your PC, that should speed it up

I was thinking RAM. If you have plenty then the next thing in mind is that your PC has a lot of junk on it. A good clean up should do.

yeah but if the HDD led doesn't blink A lot when his browser lags, then the problem isn't lag :X
