Hey there. I didn't know where else to post this but it seemed like a good location.

My friend recently tried updating to OE C. While making the dxar file it got an error in the sha1 as I gather but he ignored it and continued. Now I know it's his own fault, his PSP has never been able to generate dxar file before and when it did it made a screwy one, but is there a way fix his bricked PSP currently?

So, when I tried to install the update, it installed the 1.50 subset just fine, but when it was installing 3.03, it jumped from 27% done to 100%. Not good, I thought. It told me "Press X to shut down and manually reboot." So I did. And that was the last time I saw anything on my PSP's screen..

A quick note as well, his recovery menu won't work either. And he tried taking the battery out as well.

The only way he can fix it is by getting the modchip installed (UP or the upcoming PSP-Devolution). Proceeding with the installation when the SHA-1 value of the DXAR was different was a very bad idea, and a guaranteed brick.

Most likely he had a fake ms if he was getting a non valid DXAR every time.

Hmm I got 3 o bk DXAR files, like In a row, and my psp didnt brick so I doubt it was about the DXAR files.

Fake memory sticks come from china and usually show up on ebay. He can try asking the card manufacture for a replacement..
