I'm using my Dell Dimension 3000 with Windows XP SP2. I've updated to .NET version 2.
I downloaded ZIP file called 3.71 M33 Easy Installer (http://dl.qj.net/3.71-M33-Easy-Installer-PSP-Homebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/14641/catid/151) from QJ.net yet there seem to be 2 files downloaded. One is titled, "14641_EasyM33v2.2Beta (not zipped & 26.8MB) & the other is titled, "14641_EasyM33v2.2Beta (ZIP'd & 23.7MB / 24,365KB).
14641_EasyM33v2.2Beta (not zipped & 26.8MB) contains one folder titled, Easy 3.52 M33 v2.2 Beta & is 26.8MB. When I open this folder then 4 more icons are displayed.
-- files (folder icon with 23.4MB)
-- skincrafter.net-vs2005_light.dll (3.29MB)
-- READ ME text doc (708 bytes) This says to "Run the Easy 3.71M33.exe (with everything in the folder)"
-- Easy 3.71M33 Easy 3.52M Pspfreak101 (17.5 KB) Double click this & Run/Cancel window pops up. If I "Run" it I get this error message:
"Easy 3.52M has entountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you were in the middle of something, the informatin you were working on might be lost.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve Easy 3.52M. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous."
I'm not the only person experiencing this problem. I'd sure appreciate it if someone using Windows XP was able to get this program working & then explain how it was done.
Thanks for your time (^.^)

Sorry for double-posting so soon. I just changed my UserCP options & wanted to add this to my Subscribed Threads.
So, while I'm here...anyone using Wndows XP willing to try & run the 3.71 M33 Easy Installer download? (link included above) Let me know if you can get it opened.

There's very little chance you're going to get a response to this, man. Don't take this as offensive in any way, but 'round here we don't mess with 'automatic' installers and fudge like that. I 'spose I can't speak for everyone, obviously, though.

Yeah, I understand that (^.^) but you guys also need to understand that Easy Installers aren't some kind of affront to your dignity or anything. They're usefull. Just as usefull as today's Windows operating systems are. If they weren't then we'd all still be running DOS commands. Now wouldn't the world be pretty friggin' different without these usefull programs?
I'm just asking for some somewhat expert computer advice about a program I can't get to run.

No we don't mean they are bad. It's just some of them are and it is usually nicer to know exactly what you are doing

I'm in total agreement agreement with you there. It's really slow getting up to speed when you're brand-spanking-new like I am though. What's seems strange to me though is how I haven't heard anything negative being said about using the Pandora battery & Magic MS in order to downgrade / upgrade a PSP. There really isn't much difference between that & an easy installer.

Maybe the application requires Microsoft's .NET framework to be installed? You can grab the .NET framework on Windows Update.

I've updated to .NET version 2.
He already has.

I just updated to .NET version 3 & nothing has improved.
Also wanted to let everyone know that I have already upgraded from 3.52 M33-4 to 3.71 M33.
A friend converted my stuff into a Pandara's Battery & Magic MS; which I used to downgrade to 1.5. Then upgraded to 3.52 M33 using an Easy Installer. Added updates to bring it to 3.52 M33-4 & then finally I used x3sphere's "3.71 M33 Install Guide" to finish up.
My problem is that I'm a bit of a "completionist" (driven to complete everything I start ;-) & it's driving me nuts that I can't get this file to run.

Now, this sounds redundant, but do you have .NET v1? Because one day I noticed that a program that required v2 didn't work, even though I had v3, and I had to install it. Just sayin'.

Well, technically I have .NET 1.1 as well as .NET 1.1 Hotfix...as well as .NET 2 & .NET 3 now.
I read somewhere that it's possible that the program being downloaded was created on a system running Vista. Would that be the problem? If so then could anything be done to convert it so XP can open it?

I'm running Vista here but I booted up XP in a virtual machine and tried running the program... nothing happened. Works fine in Vista though.
Maybe the creator didn't test it under XP? If that's the case, there's not much you can do.

I downloaded this package from the link you provided and found a few things of notability:
I didn't download two folders - I think you may have extracted the .zip file and created that folder
There is no.DOC file in the .zip, extracted or otherwise, only a .txt.
Upon running the program...it has some memory issues so I can't use it.
Perhaps you should look at alternative programs?

x3sphere & EvilSeph I thank you from the bottom of my heart! I just wanted to hear someone else's experience with running this program.
OK, now I can just "let it go" as the saying goes ^.^
Thanks again guys for taking the time to help me.

Not a problem.
I couldn't really tell what exactly you were looking for so I wasn't able to recommend an alternative to the program you were trying.
Let us know and we'll see what we can come up with. This is one of the few issues I don't mind helping out with..since the Scene seems to be riddled with some really badly programmed easy installers and such.

Well, originally I was hoping to find a 3.71 M33 easy installer that worked with my computer (XP). But, after I succeeded in upgrading (quite easily) without the program I was hoping to simply find an answer as to why that darned program wouldn't work in the first place.
It is surprising to me that whomever created that easy installer hasn't either fixed it or created another one that is compatible with XP. There have to be millions & millions more computers running XP than Vista. At this point anyway.

I see. Yes, in general we don't really like easy installers and would recommend that you read the documentation yourself (or, if anything else, our quality guides (http://forums.exophase.com/forumdisplay.php?f=45)) to do what you need as you will actually learn something. Whereas with using easy installers you'll get the job done but you won't know how.
