I hate Vista so much, so I am going to switch to Ubuntu 7.10. Does everyone else think this is a good ideal?

i loved Ubuntu and 7.10 is really good.i didn't have any problems with setting it up at all except for getting my multiple monitors set up. my laptop is....a bit old...and intergrated laptop graphics couldn't handle the desktop effects over 2 screens.lol.
as long as you are only using one screen then it is a great OS...i love the eye candy though of the desktop effects :D hehe.

Ubuntu 7.10 is good enough, still for hardcore gamers like us (including you XD), I'd still recommend two OS running. (Ubuntu and XP of course)
If any problem bumps in the forums are friendly as exophase.com, and helpful of course.
USE IT. lol.

Id suggest keeping vista and running ubunto as main os. since sooner or later xp wont be able to play all the games anymore any theyll be vista only.

To tell you the truth, I have no ideal how. I do have a question though. Is there any way to get Windows games to work on it? Like The Sims 2 or Half Life 2?

You can install wine http://www.winehq.org/site/download-deb
If you have 7.10 your going to want to open terminal and paste this in there
sudo wget http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/sources.list.d/gutsy.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winehq.list
Once that is entered follow that by typing
sudo apt-get install wine, It will ask you to input an administrator password, login and it does the rest for ya. ( unless i am forgetting a step )
However, Wine does not work with EVERY Game
