Hello all...

Im very well versed in psp hacking methods, but this is my first foray into pops. When I had 352m33 the psx games loaded with no problems but now that Im on 380m33v4, it wont load at all. I tried it as many different ways as I could, including putting the ps1 games in different folders, turning on and off the plugin, etc but nothings working, not even the pops menu. Im on a phat psp, with 1.5 kernel added, and I cant figure out what Im doing wrong. Can someone PLEASE help. I was on another site (that shall remain nameless) and no one was of any help at all...

What brand memory stick do you have? Also, backup your data and then try formatting your memory stick. When I upgraded to 3.80 M33 no saves would load at all until I formatted it.

well Im using a sandisk 4 gig card. I tried reformatting the card and I got my isos to work (which was a problem with the configuration menu turning no umd off) but the psx games still go to the "please be sure to read..." screen and then goes black and shuts off. I have the psx file in game folder with 3.8 kernel on in recovery and I tried starting the game by holding either L/R and x... nothing works, even turning the plugins off and an... I cant figure it out...

So the same thing happens with popsloader disabled even? Make sure ALL plugins are disabled, then start a PSOne game. If that doesn't fix it... then I really think something is wrong with your memory stick.

Do you have another memory stick you can try with?

I dont actually... and its wierd because everything else works fine... I got it to work once when I had a 256 meg card but that was on 3.52m33, so Im not sure what part is causing the problem...

I just wanna rule out the possibility that I set this up wrong. is this right?

I take psardumper(380 version), put it in game, take the 380 eboot and put it in the root renamed EBOOT.pbp and then run psardumper using the [] button to decrypt all of it, I take pafmini, pops, popsman, and libpspvmc.prx's renaming them "file name"380.prx and put it in seplugins/popsloader, put the 380 popsloader in seplugins folder and put in the line into vsh.text file then turn it on in recovery.

am I missing anything? the game starts up so Im thinking Im doing it right, it just wont get thru that first screen...

eh? I don't think you are understanding the purpose of popsloader. The 3.80 pops is already built-in to 3.80 M33, meaning you don't need use popsloader to load it. Older pops, such as 3.52, 3.40 etc must be loaded using popsloader.

To reiterate, you don't need popsloader at all to load PSOne games on M33 custom firmware. It's only there for loading older versions of pops, because a select few games may not work correctly in the latest version.

oh.. brilliant on my part then, lol... so then why did it still not work when I reformatted the memory stick or when I turn off the popsloader plugin in recovery? I read somewhere that the 150 kernel addon might mess with pops.. is this true?

I have heard that the 1.5 kernel add-on causes issues with pops, but that was back on 3.71 M33. Should be fixed in 3.80 M33.

I think the problem is your memory stick. If you press triangle on any of the memory stick icons and go to Information does it say MagicGate : Supported?

yeah it says that... is that bad?

is there a way to get rid of the 150 addon without pandora? then I can see if its that...

no that's good. Anyway you can't uninstall the 1.50 addon on 3.80 M33. You'll need to go through the process of creating Pandora to go back to 3.71 M33-2.

I doubt it is the 1.50 kernel that is causing the problem though. More people would've reported issues with it.

ok, I downgraded with pandora and then reupgraded to 380m33v4... this time without the 150 kernel and still nothing. Im fresh out of ideas. Imma try a different game. Ive been working with hot shots golf cuz I knew it worked before on 352m33, but I guess its not working for me on 380... f***... ah well...

just for the sake of completeness for anyone thats may come across this thread, I have tried everything I could to get hot shots to work, even tho it was working before in an earlier cfw, so for s***s and giggles I tried a copy of ff7 and it works fine. I have no idea what the difference is, but it looks like some games just arent compatible. If one doesnt work, try a different one. Other than that I guess this threads done...
