Requirements

A PSP with the 2.71 Firmware (http://72.29.74.204/~exophase/external/EBOOT_271.PBP)
You have above 75% battery left
Find out if you have a TA-082 motherboard, see this photo (http://www.exophase.com/images/psp/ta082spotls6.jpg)
If you do not have a TA-082, follow the Generic Downgrader guide, otherwise make sure you follow the TA-082 downgrade guide

Instructions for TA-082 downgrade
1. Download the TA-082 Downgrader files (http://forums.exophase.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=83&d=1174176158).
2. Extract the archive and copy all files inside of "MS_ROOT" to your memory stick drive. If asked to overwrite any files, click yes.
3. Get the official 1.50 EBOOT (http://exophase.com/files/psp/EBOOT_150.zip), extract it, then rename the PBP file to UPDATE.PBP and copy it into the <pspdrive>:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder.
4. Navigate to the Photo directory on your PSP, select HEND folder. If successful you will see a blue then green screen flash, if not - try again.
294
5. Execute the 1.5 Enabler program on your PSP. When prompted to alter an idstorage key, press X.
292
6. The program will exit to the XMB. Now execute the generic downgrade, which will show in the PSP menu as "Update X.YZ".
293
7. When the downgrade is finished, you will be asked to press X to restart the PSP.
8. If all went fine, you’ll receive a blue screen telling you to press O. Do it, and re-enter your settings.

Instructions for Generic Downgrade (non-TA-082)
1. Download the Generic Downgrader files (http://exophase.com/files/psp/GENERIC_DOWNGRADER_HEND(2.71).zip).
2. Copy the contents inside MS_ROOT to your memory stick drive.
3. Navigate to the Photo directory on your PSP, select the HEND folder. If successful you will see a blue screen flash, if not - try again.
294
4. Get the official 1.50 EBOOT (http://exophase.com/files/psp/EBOOT_150.zip), extract it, then rename the PBP file to UPDATE.PBP and copy it into the <pspdrive>:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder.
4. Run the Generic Downgrader
293
5. When the downgrade is finished, you will be asked to press X to restart the PSP.
6. If all went fine, you’ll receive a blue screen telling you to press O. Do it, and re-enter your settings.

Yeah, HEN is not active after a reboot.

ok, someone else had problems with HEN D so I recommend you try this. Download Hen C here: http://exophase.com/files/psp/hen_c.rar

start it up from the photo folder as normal, and now try starting the Generic downgrader.

It's normal. The HEN startup is unstable, so you must try more times.

Normally it work's best for me if you restart the PSP without a disk inserted, and in the image wait for the icon to glow 3 times before hitting X to start the HEN.

Hi i have a psp with 2.71 and a TA-082.

While downgrading to 1.50 as explained above, when i ran idstoragechange, after reaching 100% and hitting X to restart my psp the screen just went black, and no matter what i do it wont budge, no matter what i press, and the power switch just wont manage to turn it off. I tried the screen brightness button just in case and its not that either... battery was at 100% and i didnt unplug it from the power at any moment... any ideas would be much appreciated

P.S. Ok i managed to turn it off without popping out the battery but when i turn it on i still just get a black screen with nada on it.. no logo, no purty sony sound... just a black screen that wont budge no matter what buttons i spam...

I have a TA-082 PSP with FW=2.71. And I follow the instruction for TA-082 downgrade.
1. "Start HEND" - got a blue screen in 1-2 sec - and PSP restarts automatically.
2. "Execute the 1.5 Enabler":
Current key 5 first longword is 0x436c6b67
1.5 will not run on a TA-082/86 PSP With this setting
press x to alter the key press o to exit
Shall I press X to alter the key ? I've read in the forum about the problem, and someone said:do not continue ... while another said just continue .. What is the right thing to do now ?

Thank you

I find it really funny that some people ask whether they need to press X or not. One person on MC stated that he ran and exited 1.5 enabler several times, but every time, it told him that it wouldn't run 1.5 and that he needed to press X. He was stumped on what to do... :crying: :bored:

Oh well, better they ask if they're not sure.

well,to a novice user it is quite alarming to see hex values pop up if you don't know what you're doing :P

Sigh... it's the common dilemma - put too much info and have people complain, or not enough and have people complain. The current state was deamed suitable by everyone involved at the time. It clearly states whether or not the PSP is CURRENTLY capable of running 1.5, and that X should be pressed to alter this. It's in the instructions and guides what to do at this point as well. Not that I'm adverse to making changes that seem warranted.

The "generic" downgrader? Do you mean the original downgrader? If so, you've horribly mangled your keys and now need to run something like KeyCleaner to fix them. That's the whole purpose of having the corruption-free downgrader. If you were concerned whether or not you should have pushed X, you should have asked rather than rely on a noobie post of "someone said not to."

I don't think you have to downgrade since you're running SE-B, man. I honestly don't know what you DO have to do, have to ask someone that's been on the scene a little longer, but yeah, you won't have to actually DOWNGRADE it I don't think.

nope, you don't have to downgrade. you're already on 2.71 Special Edition Rev.B
what you should do now is upgrade to 3.52M33 (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=2732), update to 3.52M33-4 (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=3185)

He guys I also use 2.71Seb and just installed the 3.52M33, but after extracting, I receive this error: loading 1.50 firmware... file 150.PBP could not be opened.
What am I doing wrong?? Must I change something in my recovery mode of 2.71?
Thanx in advance.

Sigh... I have been running around the internet for hours trying figure out how to run ISO games on my PSP. I came across this tutorial and it seems pretty straight forward (and the one designed for my PSP, finally), but I didn't get it to work.

I have version 2.71. I cannot get past step 3 (from Generic Downgrader). I've tried both HEND and HENC. After copying the MS_ROOT folder and tried loading it, my PSP says there is no photos. So, I moved the files from MS_ROOT/PSP/PHOTO/ to x:/PSP/PHOTO/. There, of course it shows up, but it freezes everytime I try to load it.

I'm assuming I'm NOT suppose to move the HENC/D photo files from their original folder to the default PSP folder, but it's the only way I can get them to show up.

Anyone who can help, I sure would appreciate it. My head hurts. Thanks.

Format your Memory Stick, then paste and overwrite the entire ms0:/PSP folder.

Be sure to have systemctrl.prx, pspbtknf_updater.txt, pspbtknf_game.txt, pspbtknf.txt, patch.bin and h.bin in the root of your memory stick.

Now give it another try.

Ok... well that worked. I guess MS_ROOT refers to the Memory Stick root, huh? Not an actual folder on the MS called MS_ROOT?

Well, I got past step 3, but after copying the UPDATE.PBP file to PSP/GAME/UPDATE/ I don't see any option to upgrade. It says the data is corrupt.

Any ideas?

Yup, MS_ROOT refers to Memory Stick Root.

Did you access to HEND yet?
Maybe that's the problem.

MY 150.PBP (UPDATE.PBP) is 13.900,225 bytes.

SHA-1: 959A0B0454842EFF92569EA5840941476D009011

Maybe downloading again might help.

I was able to access HENC. It did the blue flash then rebooted. But I wasn't able to view the upgrade file.

The bad news is... I bought a couple games last night, but hadn't played them yet because they wanted to upgrade to 3.52. Well, today while I was away, my wife decided she wanted to play one of them, and not knowing my plans, updated the firmware to play the game. :cursing:

So, this tutorial doesn't do me any more good. (I don't think). I haven't done a lot of searching, but is there a way yet to play ISOs on this version? Downgrade, that is?

Too bad. I really would have liked to find out why it didn't work. Sorry if I wasted your time!

What happens if you press the brightness button a few times? It sounds like a hardware problem.
