2.80 Downgrade Guide

Requirements

A PSP with the 2.80 Firmware (http://files.exophase.com/psp/EBOOT_280.zip)
You have above 75% battery left
Find out if you have a TA-082 motherboard, see this photo (http://www.exophase.com/images/psp/ta082spotls6.jpg)


Instructions for downgrading from 2.80
1. Download the 2.80 downgrader files (http://forums.exophase.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=84&d=1174176244).
2. Extract the archive and copy all files inside of "MS_ROOT" to your memory stick drive. If asked to overwrite any files, click yes.
3. Navigate to the Photo directory on your PSP, select the HEN_280 folder. If successful you will see a pale blue screen flash, if not - try again.

4. If you have a TA-082 PSP, execute the 1.5 Enabler program on your PSP. When prompted to alter an idstorage key, press X.

5. Get the official 1.50 EBOOT (http://exophase.com/files/psp/EBOOT_150.zip), extract it, then rename the PBP file to UPDATE.PBP and copy it into the <pspdrive>:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder.
6. The program will exit to the XMB. Now execute the generic downgrade, which will show in the PSP menu as "Update X.YZ".
7. Congrats! When the process is completed, you'll have a 1.5 PSP.

I did all that, but the update.pbp is coming up as corrupted data :( any ideas would be greatly appreciated

OK. So I copied all the files, then entered the HEN directory in the PHOTO's , the MS becomes very active and the PSP just turns off. Am I doing something wrong

no keep trying until you get a blue screen. hen will not always load successfully the first time

no, 2.81 doesn't have a downgrader, you need to upgrade to 3.03 and use the 3.03 guide.

You need to upgrade it to 3.03 then follow the 3.03 downgrade guide:

ive been trying it 4 hours and it doesnt seem to be working. i hav a non 82 psp. whenever i enter the hen folder the psp freezes and restarts itself. any help would be appreciated?

Have you tried setting a custom wallpaper? That helps some folks. Also, many report it fails quite often before finally working. You just have to keep trying until it finally does work. One person reported having to try it 50 times before it finally worked, so when it DOES finally work, be sure to do what you need.

After running HEN? Well you should see a pale blue screen then it will return back to the XMB.

Might take more than a few tries to get it working.

yep the XMB is the main menu.

and yeah setting a background works for some people.

Do I click the picture of the Hen or the thing thats called Launcher?? I can only click the Hen 'coz It freezes before I can do anything else!

as shown in the screenshot, you click the folder that says "HEN 280"

Like I said it might take awhile for it work... some people have reported trying around 80 times before it actually worked.

It's very simple. You are on Firmware 1.5 now right?

Then navigate to the GAME folder on your memory stick (it's in X:/PSP, otherwise just create it)

The GAME folder is where all your homebrew goes in...

For example let's say you have a NES emulator, and it has two folders, NES and NES%. You'd just drag those two folders over to your GAME folder. Then the emulator will show up in the Game menu on your PSP.

i dg my friends 2.8 today, and is it normal taking up to half an hour to try to enable HEN?
i told him it will be done in 15mins, but at the end it took up an whole hour.

You don't need the 2.81 firmware if you already have it- and you cannot use this downgrader on your PSP. What you'll have to do is upgrade to 3.03 and use the guide HERE (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=525), it requires an unpatched version of GTA:Liberty City Stories. Or, alternatively, you can upgrade to 3.50 and use the guide HERE (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=2470), it requires the game Lumines. Those are your two options. !!!!MAKE SURE!!!! you don't upgrade to 3.51 or 3.52, or you will be stuck for a period of close to eternity.

put it in your psp, and see if the UMD include the 2.00 firmware update. if it's 2.60 then it's a patched version

do you have 2.80 on your PSP? it's doesn't require to have GTA lcs to downgrade 2.80. only 3.03 requires that. :smile:
