My dad is a programmer he has been for ages but he has only moved to psp programming as a hobbie since about december, i just asked my dad why he did it on mine he replied "cause yours is still under warranty" lol :cool:

Just an update on how things are going my Dad has completely finished and we are going to try it on a 3.11 today (my friends one) i will let you know how it goes and we will be recording it so i will post it on youtube (today or tomorrow) as well but be patient as i have been throttled back to dial up speed by our ISP (lol look at the picture)

Good news and bad news

Bad news is the downgrader didnt work good new is Dad is working on the problem now he reckons we are so close as you can see the screen for a brief second before the error comes up

The DADADADA Error only comes out when trying to upgrade to sony FW i know this because i tried to upgarde my psp 3.03oe-b for sum stupid reason and that error didmt let me

And I see this thread :)
So if i understand, this downgrader will (i hope soon) works on 3.11 and will be able to downgrade to 1.5 or such another before 3.03? and without a game with fake like GTA LCS??
Ow, if its true, i'll not sell my 3.11 to buy an other...Because i see on some forums that 3.11 downgrade will not be available before weeks or months :(

Many of you have been asking me how my Dad plans to downgrade so i decided to post it here for everyone to read

As of now there is no know exploits in 3.10/3.11 so that only leaves us with a few options

1.) We can re-engineer a upgrade from sony and make the program copy the 1.50 files over instead of the ones it thinks its upgrading to. This option is next to impossible as sony have made security very tight and would take alot of hex editing and time, which is what my dad planned to do.

2.) We can upgrade directly to dark_alex firmware by make the psp think that it is a genuine update which is very much like option 1

3.) We can modify a game demo and trick it into downgrading which is what my dad seems to be heading towards

4.)Try and find an exploit such as somthing to do with game sharing i.e send a downgrader over the wifi which the psp thinks is a game or something similar

also as i have said before this is just a leisurely paced worked on downgrader so dont expect any miracles soon...

Umm... not sure he probably wont give up but i know sum1 else will create a downgrader before him

Im also working on my version of a downgrader (its kinda like a race lol) but he seems to be getting further ahead than me

I reckon its all got to do with the .SFO file there's got be a way to still make the updater version 1.50 and still let you pass the check for what file it is...

I was just doing sum testing and i realised that it only checks the first number say if i typed "4" it would let me pass however if i typed "3" it will then ask "and then what number" so i would have to type 3.12 in order to get passed the 3.11 check

So thats what im doing... wonder what dads doing ill check... might be able to get a head start... lol :cool:

No, PSP ver 3.10 & 3.11 are not able to launch iso games. That's why we are waiting for a 3.11 downgrade, because you can only play with iso games with 1.50 firmware, or any custom firmware like Dark_Alex's ones...

I have been talking to fanjita and we have sent the exploit to fanjita as im sure he could work his magic alot faster than dad or myself, he said not all overflows are useful but he would like to have a look anyway.

Basically this means that we now have more people working to make a downgrader which is excellent news :D

We are still working on our versions of the downgrader which is still slowly coming along but with the help of the noobz team it might speed it up abit :D

dont think that coud work since i don't think that demo's would have access to the internal flash of the psp....only really upgrading programs would....


would it help to study the latest upgrader or the 3.10 upgrader....like list down what sony does to upgrade the psp?...

cause im sure they wouldn't lock themselves out of their own psp's and not be able to reflash them ever again

I deleted all update ability off my PSP just to make sure.

I think you mean 3.30OE. And I don't know. Probably soon, just give it time.

If you mean a DOWNGRADER for 3.10, just read the damn thread. We don't know where this will head, or when, but it has promise.

EDIT: Oh, I read 3.10OE for some reason. Dark_Alex has already stated that he won't be releasing a 3.11OE because using popsloader to load the 3.11 pops in 3.10OE gets you everything 3.11 had that 3.10 did not.

At present any OE firmware can ONLY be installed on a PSP running Sony firmware 1.50.
That's why downgraders are so important...

yeah if it was possible to install an OE firmware on top of a $ony there would be no reason for downgrader to be made. you could simply update to a higher firmware just like an original.

Hi there sorry it took so long to reply again :blushing:

This project is one of the hardest things we have have ever done basically what we are trying to do now is find exploits while my dad trys to use that other exploit that i found.

There is something new i tried is when you open the PSP UMD case you can change UMDs without the PSP knowing by holdind down the sensor button.

So i put in a PSP with a 3.03 Update (didnt have anything higher and i was on 2.71) went to update then i swithced the UMD to a 2.00 Update UMD. It was going well untill about 37% and then it turned off all of a sudden. It turned out that it had bricked on my new PSP :crying: lol

So now i have to take my PSP back again under warranty (hoping that they will replace it). :wink:

However this is taking to much time and effort (and maybe money if they dont replace it)

So i am going to give up on this for a while my Dad will still be working on it but i just dont have the time at the moment. I might later on but now i need to focus on my studies :biggrin:

Its worth a try I bricked my psp brought it back and am now running 3.40oe-a. It is impossible to restore back to 1.50 on sony fws 3.10 and above. If it was we wouldn't have the problem of needing a downgrader. I f you get a firmware that hasn't got a downgrader just update to the firmware that can be and downgrade from there

Go to the store first and check the box codes.

You want to make sure that they at least have a downgradable version
I stuck with box code 'K' because it is 2.71. That was really easy to downgrade right out of the box. I am still a n00b, but I sent my PSP back to the online retailer I bought it from and went to Wal-Mart and got a 'K'. Downgrading couldn't have been easier.

There'd be no way to install the modded firmware (Read: CUSTOM FIRMWARE, which does exist) onto a non-downgraded PSP in the first place, as any known holes have been patched. Why the hell else would it be impossible to upgrade to custom firmware without downgrading? =P

Yeah, I did a shitload of research before buying my PSP. So that when I finally bought one, I knew not to upgrade, but immediately downgrade (if possible), and that there was a risk that the PSP I was purchasing would already have too high of firmware. Luckily, my used PSP came with 2.00 :D

because normal 3.10 can upgrade with no problem (although I don't recommend it if you like homebrew)
