For the record, I'm currently running Xubuntu 9.04 on my PS3 now. It's much better than anything else right now. Get the alternate installer CD and install like normal. You're then on a regular Xubuntu install. It's nice and fast, even without a custom compiled kernel. In fact, every system in...
I believe so.
Word -> Open Office
Firefox -> Firefox
7-zip -> 7-zip
MSN -> Do you mean instant messaging? If so, Pidgin.
AV -> Not really needed, but you can run ClamAV... considered to be in the top five of all AVs even though it's free.
All this is in the Ubuntu repositories.
Go...
If I have correctly figured out which you mean, the specs say it captures at "up to" 720x480. In the software that came with it, make sure you have it set to the maximum capture resolution, and then set the software to fullscreen instead of windowed mode. Both of those will be in the capture...
One thing he gets right - you CAN'T compare the Wii to either the PS3 or XBox 360. It's a previous generation system aimed at the value market. If you want to compare it to something, you have to compare it to the PS2 and XBox. In the latest generation, there is ONLY the PS3 and XBox 360... and...
You run neither Mac nor Windows programs. You run LINUX programs compiled for PPC architecture. If you want to use your PS3 to code for the PSP, Ubuntu and Fedora are the two linux distros most PSP devs use (if they're using linux, of course). I have Fedora 9 on my PS3. I use petitboot instead...
Probably never. Not enough is known about the PSP hardware to make an effective OS for the PSP capable of doing anything useful. Utopia is in about the same state that uclinux for the PSP is at: running simple mips programs with no sound, no video beyond a simple framebuffer, and access to the...
I think you mean you don't get fast 3D with all the bells and whistles. So it's not (yet) ideal for conversions of Quake 3 or similar. Otherwise the graphics are fine.
And it's not the hypervisor that's the issue - it's the lack of documentation on how to use the hypervisor to access the 3D...
Yeah, that video looks to be good. The recommended USB capture device is just what you need for a laptop. There are plugin cards for desktop PCs that put less of a strain on the system than a USB device, but those aren't usable on laptops.
Just google for some USB capture devices. Make sure you...
My own guesses:
1 - Complete elimination of service mode. No chance of hacking at that point (then we'll see the return of the mod-chip)
2 - Like Kwipper said - change of LCD module.
3 - Like Juliet said - built in camera. They built in a mic on the last one, why not a camera on the next?
Just copy the 5.00 EBOOT.PBP into the update directory with the name 500.pbp (rename and THEN copy to avoid overwriting the update EBOOT.PBP file), then run the update from the XMB.
The idea was to separate one thing (plugins) into a few individual things (XMB, GAME, POPS plugins). The reason is that you can only have so many plugins. People are (or were) complaining that they couldn't put all the plugins they wanted into the plugins. So rather than increase the number...
Thank God!! I was getting tired of actually showing up in person... you stand the chance of getting arrested when you protest in person. Online protesting... the wave of the future! 8)
You don't understand what they mean - it isn't FOR the 1000/2000, they mean it only RUNS on the 1000/2000 using normal custom firmware. The idea is that you use an already customized PSP to descramble the libs for a PSP that cannot currently run homebrew. Hope that clears it up a little.
You cannot hook the PS3 directly to the laptop. What you would need is a video to USB converter box, then plug the video out of the PS3 to the converter box and the USB to the laptop. Doing so will allow the PS3 to show on the laptop, but you'll lose quite a bit of the quality of said video.
