Internet PROBLEM

I am having a problem with connecting to my wireless router.(I have a 2.71 FW) I press to create new conecction, then I press scan and it finds my router and says signal strength:60-80% and security:none. Once I create the connection and I try connecting I get those messages;

A connection error has occurred.The access point was not detected.

or

A connection error has occurred. A connection to the access point could not be established. Check the security setting for the network and try again.

If someone knows whats going on please write. I will appreciate.

first try restore default settings. if that doesn't work.. do you have MAC filtering enabled on your router?

2.71? For the love of everything good and holy, do NOT upgrade. If you already knew that, good. If you didn't, well, now you do.

Does it give you an actual Error number? Those can actually be helpful in the right hands.

Setup is also somewhat different depending on whether your router acts as a DHCP server and dynamically assigns you an IP address, or if your network uses static IPs.

This means that you are too far from your router and your PSP cannot recieve it's signal. Or that your router is unplugged. These are the two most common reasons for that error message.

This doesn't necessarily mean that your PSP cannot recognize your router because of the security. When I go to my friend's place, and I bring my laptop, I can pick up and use his unsecured wireless connection with no issues connecting. When I bring my PSP and try to use his unsecured wireless network, I get the same error as you do, "... Check the security setting....". This most likely means that he's running a router that doesn't support 802.11b (or just isn't transmitting an 802.11b signal), the PSP's type of WIFI connection. It could however be another problem, which is probably where Tenshigami's help should come in. :smile:

Do you mean, to not broadcast both 802.11b and 802.11g at the same time?
Because if that's what you mean, my Linksys router is doing so and it's working perfectly fine. However, it may not work properly with all routers.

Now I got 3.40 OE-A

I tried connecting to a router and the IP was already created and then is said that it cannot connect.
