Not sure if this has been done already in this way I know the acid mods people made something like this. I was wondering if someone could make a program on your psp where you could use any usb controller or a psx controller modded with usb end to play on the psp with. May help with some psx game which need to use dual shock. Even (jumping around) Maybe even make it so it can be used on any psp game to to aim with instead of crappy x, circle, triangle, square thing.
 
The problem is that the USB on the PSP is not capable of being a host, only a peripheral. You cannot therefore hook other peripherals to it. The way PSP USB device get around that (like the PSP camera) is to put a USB host chip in the device. To make USB or PSX controllers work with the PSP, you'd need to make an adapter that acted as a USB host to the PSP, while simultaneously reading the controller across USB or via a PSX style connection.

or like f00 f00's you open up your PSP and do so major rewiring so the controller can then be connected to original PSP controls. (f00 f00's made little usb type slots all around the psp for 4to 6 wires to go in so you can use the controller instead. made it look like a large spider hanging from the bottom of you PSP. i saw some one on youtube have an joystick ,one off of the ps2 controller and it was on the side of the psp it was kinda cool so i guess it is possible
