Team M33 have released the first-ever custom firmware for the PSP Slim and Lite, 3.60 M33! It includes all custom features from previous M33 releases as well as the standard features from firmware 3.60.

Additionally, it’s important to note that this is FIRST custom firmware based on a 3.XX IPL. This means that older homebrews written specifically for firmware 1.5 will not function correctly. Any application written for the 3.X kernel will work fine however.

[blockquote2]We are proud to present the first custom firmware for the PSP Slim, and the first custom firmware
that runs using a 3.XX IPL (3.60)

3.60 M33 for PSP Slim has all the features of 3.52 M33, except the 1.50 kernel support, as
that kernel doesn't work properly on psp slim (hardware problems, screen problems).
3.60 M33 will load homebrew from GAME, GAME150 and GAME360 directories, but all will be executed
with 3.60 kernel.

This mean that some homebrews done specifically for the 1.50 kernel cannot work on 3.60 M33.
However, the adaptation of code to 2.XX+ kernels is not difficult, and homebrew developers can
port their aplications to work in these firmwares.[/blockquote2]

2 questions is this just for slim and 2nd if it is how would we install it on one.

Only for PSP Slim at this time. Read the readme.en included in the archive, it requires the use of a Pandora's Battery.

We will put up an install guide shortly.

I thought battery didnt work on slims though or was that just a rumour

It's a modified Pandora's Battery, uses different files on the memory stick than the old one.

Well thats freakin amazing wish I woulda known about that damn now I might have to spend some money on a new psp :(. Also would I then be able to have say.... two mem sticks one for new psp and one for old both with the seperate files but just one battery and be bale to unbrick and everything still ?

Way to go M33!!

way to go M33, but i'm going to keep my fat PSP, besides the extra ram, i don't see any reasen to buy one (i don't use any emulatores)

Out of luck then, you'll need to find someone who has a regular PSP and can convert the battery and install the necessary files on the memory stick for you.

Just installed it! Works like a charm. The only problem right now is weeding out the 1.50 homebrew from the 3.xx homebrew. I am so stoked right now! Homebrew on the new slim... it came quicker than some predicted. Maybe we'll see another resurgence of PSP homebrew now. :D

Are the current GAME ISOs made on 1.50kernel or 3.60 kernel?

For example, will Tales of Eternia ISO work with PSP slim's 3.60cfw?

You won't have to worry about Game ISOs, all of them will work on the PSP Slim CFW.

Will my psx games like Resident Evil 2 run on 3.60 M33? and also will my emulators run like NES,SNES,GEN,GBA and so on?

@Janglez:

PSX games work fine, the same as they did on 3.52 M33. As for emulators, some work, some don't. NES emulator NesterJ works fine, but others like SNESTYL and PSPGenesis will need to be updated. For GBA emulation I've heard the HEN-D version of gpSP works fine.

@guy_edwin: Nah, no bugs, just the homebrew incompatibilities I pointed out above, but that's because 3.60 M33 does not use the 1.5 kernel.
