Back in September of last year, SEGA exec Masanao Maeda expressed his belief that Mario & Sonic would reach global sales of 4 million units, a figure that would match the success of the original Sonic The Hedgehog on Genesis.
Not only did the game meet those expectations, it surpassed them by a long shot. SEGA proudly announced that it has sold five million copies of Mario & Sonic worldwide in just over three months. We assume that number includes both the Wii and Nintendo DS versions of the game, but still - an impressive feat.
