trying to sort out my sons psp...and i am looking for some help.

bought him a version 2.0, then a friend of mine downgraded it for him to 1.5 so that he could play some games a friend gave us.

anyway i sought some help a couple of days ago about help in getting the internet access and i was told that i could upgrade to 3.10 oea custom firmware which i have done and have now got internet access.

however i don't know how to play the original the games we had to play with.

is there a link someone could point me to that could give me a crash course in using homebrew, definitions & terms and other associated help with the custom firmware.

any help would really be appreciated and i would get goldie points offa my boy for the effort!!!!!

Well id like to commend you on being one kick ass dad. You automatically qualify for my help ,, even though aparantly you didnit search first.

Heres the basic jist...

Iso games (usually people back up their games in this fashon) go into the iso folder in the memory stick (or MS) root directory.

When you want to run homebrew usually the homebrews have a readme.txt detailing their usages. and install.

Theres a few things you have now, that you didnt b4.

1. recovery menu ( see link after reading this post)
2. psx compatability
3. video playing in full screen ( when not genuine sony media)

psx = playstation (and to my knowledge ps2 as well) games , ripped for use in the psp.


The main thing you dont allow your son to do ... is tinker with flash0 or flash1 .
Second to that is run a network update,,, or ANY updates what so ever.
As long as he goes to you for this you should be ok. You will ofcourse read up properly and ask for the according help needed.

This forum is great as its tended by a bunch of nice guys who genuinely want you to enjoy your psp. However it could use more content.

psp-hacks.com is a great site for files, though its a clusterfuck. Tons of people go there, Tons of people tend the forums... thousands and thousands of post. Harder to find any thing. They are about the most leinant too.
Their files are all safe... tested... BUT you gotta read. And understand any thing you do b4 you do it.
