So, I might sell my ps2 for a psp, help me out.

The more I think about it, the more I want a psp. I had a ds, sold it for my ps2 (Big mistake), and now I just get bored with me ps2. I just don't like to sit in front of my tv and play games anymore. And the psp has some great stuff going for it. I have have some questions though:

1. What is the deal with all of this firmware? What kind do I need to play roms?

2. What system roms can I play on my psp?

3. Can you play ps1 games on your psp if you do not have a ps3?
 
you will want to buy a PSP with firmware 2.80 or lower, anything higher requires the use of GTA: LCS to downgrade and firmware 3.10 / 3.11 cannot be downgraded at all.

after downgrading you'll be on 1.5 and from there you can install the custom firmware 3.10 OE.

as for emulators, PSP emulates pretty much everything. NES, SNES, GBA, Genesis, PS1, PCE, Atari, etc..

and yes you can play any PS1 game with 3.10 OE, without the need of a PS3.
 
Dude psp is great...Run custom firmware and you can play anything ps1, nintendo,n64,super nintendo, all those old classics...protable..theres nothing better then that, if you get one and you need any help fill free to send me some PM's.
 
I am still thinking about it. Playing RE and Dino Crisis on the go would be great. GBA would not be bad either. Hmm.
 
Mine dies in like 3 hours, because my psp is set to 333 and lvl 4 brightness lmao...w/e. But you can set it up to run around 7 hours...And yes man RE on the go is....breathtaking.

lol, mine dies in like 2 hours at 333 and level 4 brightness. But I've had it for about a year now.. since launch day. Time to get a new battery :D
 
So does that mean no PS1 for V1.5

Hi all,

I am a noob when it comes to PSP as well but have been reading a lot of forums lately trying get a grasp on the amazing homebrew community!! ;)

I am getting a PSP V. 1.5 and haven't found any thread that answers this question...

Can 1.5 play PS1 games or only 3.10 OE?

you cant play playstation games on v1.50 as the playstation emulator was released in v3.00 .you would be able to play playstation games on any OE firmwares above 3.00 such as v3.03 OE-C or v3.10 OE A

it would be advisiable,yea and should be safe as long as you follow the instructions.

Just make sure you download 3.10OE from a trusted site cuz I saw on a few other forums there is a trojan called Trojan.PSPBrick and its renamed to look like custom firmware. It makes me nervous to even try and modify the software on my PSP.
