Transfered file going corrupt

I'm on a fat PSP running 4.01 M33-2. I don't have the 1.5 kernel add on. I'm using a Sony brand 8GB Memory Stick PRO Duo that says Magic Gate on it. All official firmwares I have used to upgrade were taken from Dark Alex's website and all custom firmware updaters and such were taken from the custom firmware Wiki that links to this website.

For some reason, when I copy things to my PSP they either corrupt or don't work. PSX games simply corrupt and cannot be deleted. I have to format to get rid of them. PSP ISOs work differently. They mess up at a different point everytime I transfer them. The first time, I put GGXX Accent Core on and it froze when selecting any mode except for arcade mode. Second time, it froze before starting the game. Third time, it ran arcade and training, but the save file corrupted and could not be deleted, then the game would not start.

A friend of mine has the exact same specs listed in the first paragraph and when he made a new folder in his Music folder, corrupted files just filled up in it while he was still on windows.

I just put Crisis Core on mine and when I start the game, it turns off my PSP. Also made the PSP stop recognizing my stick. I formated the stick on the PC and it's being recognized again.

Is this is a known problem with the firmware? I seem to have no trouble with files corrupting or anything of the sort with other devices like my DS, portable hard drive, and iPod.

It could be a crook USB cable or USB port possibly something with the PC me thinks.
Do you have access to different PC for file transfer?
Can you use a different USB port and/or cable?
Can you redump the ISO then retransfer?
A reinstall of the firmware wouldn't hurt either just in case.

I suggest investing in a high quality card reader/writer

I just tried transferring with my laptop, rather than my desktop. Same problem.

I don't have a different USB cable, but I do have a memory stick duo adapter that came with the memory stick pro. I used that in the port on my laptop. I transfered 3 psx games and one ISO. The ISO didn't even show up and all three games were corrupted. 2 showed icons but wouldnt start, one showed up as corrupted data.

I'm not sure what you mean by redumping the ISO.

If I reinstall the firmware, is it safe to reinstall 4.01 M33-1 or should I just run the 4.01 M33-2 update?

Those adapters are sometimes crap. With my San Disk card reader writer I never have to use the adapter. Possibly it's the memory that is bad somehow.
Don't buy from EBAY you can find now 4 GB for $30 or NewEGG.com has 8 GB good price

$56.99 you can't go wrong man

If you wanna reinstall the firmware easly without pandora battery search Hellcat Recovery Flasher.
Hopefully that program doesn't corrupt to the stick as well then it has option to reinstall 4.01 M33-2 once launched from XMB

Yeah, I was gonna say it sounds more like bad blocks on the stick than anything else.

Alright, I just put the stick in a PSP that is running OFW and formatted it on that PSP. I put music, pictures, and random folders in it. I put save games on it from the PC and made one from playing Lumines. Nothing messed up whatsoever.

It would appear it is just my PSP that is causing the corrupted things. My friend, who I helped in getting CFW, is having the exact same issues.

When updating, I did ignore something about "seplugins". Could that have anything to do with it?

So your saying you dumped Lumines UMD and made an ISO with your PSP
but it shows up corrupted?
Can you grab your friends PSP and try to dump the game to ISO with his PSP to see if same result happens?
Are you using PSP Filer to dump the game?
I recommend filer for dumping.

I'm not actually sure what dumping is. >_<

I used an actual Lumines UMD in my friends PSP and the save data came out fine. In my PSP, using the Lumines UMD, the save data came out corrupt.

Maybe the card connector is getting gunky. They make connector/edge cleaner that you can buy in electronics shops. Back when consoles took cartridges, that stuff was seen everywhere since you periodically had to clean the edges/connectors in the cart/console to keep games working. Your PSP might be having a similar problem.
