Hey can you guys tell me whether or not homebrew apps can run off an external HDD rather than a small spaced shitty sd card?

also use it to copy the hack over?
 
No you need to use an SD Card. Wii doesn't support external HDDs yet. I say yet because it's certainly something that Nintendo could add support for in the future.
