I know that this doesn't really help anyone downgrade their PSP, but it's something I wanted to say, becuase I just have to tell people.
When I exchanged my 3.11 FW PSP for a replacement (it had dead pixels but my concern was the firmware), I got a 2.71 FW psp, that's when I jumped the Dark Alex bandwagon with 3.03 OE-C.
However, there was some hardware problems with my brand used 2.71 PSP. It wasn't the fact that it's a TA-082 system... the internal speakers weren't producing any sound what so ever. The headphones worked fine, for a while, then I couldn't hear out the right headphone and the PSP remote functions didn't work at all. So, I ordered a replacement pair of internal speakers for my PSP and got some precision screwdrivers. I had to pull apart nearly half of my system, that includes removing the LCD screen. I had to be extremely careful so as to not to damage any of the parts, especially the screen. I finally got access to the speakers, and replaced them with the new speakers, and carefully reassembled my system. When all was back together, I plugged my battery back in, and tried it out. To my delight, the process was a success!! The speakers now work like new. I decided to plug my headphones in and play some Call of Duty: Roads to Victory, and I found out that I inadvertently fixed the headphone and PSP remote problems just by replacing the speakers!!! Now the system runs like it just came off the assembly line, with the exception of the custom firmware. I am extremely happy about my achievement in repairing my system.
*You can see why I'd have to say something.
