So, Adobe is pulling the plug on Flash for mobile.
Sources close to Adobe that have been briefed on the company’s future development plans have revealed this forthcoming announcement to ZDNet:

Our future work with Flash on mobile devices will be focused on enabling Flash developers to package native apps with Adobe AIR for all the major app stores. We will no longer adapt Flash Player for mobile devices to new browser, OS version or device configurations. Some of our source code licensees may opt to continue working on and releasing their own implementations. We will continue to support the current Android and PlayBook configurations with critical bug fixes and security updates.

Additionally, the e-mail briefing to Adobe’s partners has been summed up as follows:

Adobe is Stopping development on Flash Player for browsers on mobile.
Adobe is now focusing their development efforts on:

Applications for mobile
Expressive content on the desktop (in and out of browser)
Increasing their investments in HTML5 in general

Apple dealt a big blow to Adobe when it decided not to support Flash on the iPhone/iPad.

Besides, a lot of Flash apps are CPU-heavy and bog down your phone. HTML5 is bound to replace Flash eventually, this is just accelerating the process. Adobe sees the end is in sight and is diverting its resources elsewhere.

That doesn't seem like a good decision.

Not a fan of it either but it does make logical sense. Apple has pushed many sites into developing HTML5 alternatives to their flash content and is accessible to mobile platforms. Also flash performance on a mobile device, particularly on a small screen, is still not to the desktop-level that we've come to anticipate from the advancements in technology. Sure flash plays well on mobile now but how many times do you find yourself using it? I for one disable flash, primarily to reduce the load on my phone when loading up webpages.

The only useful application of flash is on tablets and desktops, other than that the experience is poor on other devices

What? Why? As long as it's declared NSFW what's the problem? Are we running a children's forum here?

Explicitly linking to pornographic sites without proper warning (implied but not tagged) is unacceptable in my book. We do have underage users and do not allow such links
