Cannot Log on to XP

I'm stumped.
I cant get onto safe mode, because I'm using a wireless bluetooth keyboard that doesn't connect to the pc for a while, but I may be able to borrow a usb one if needed.

I get the Error (Can't remember offhand but here's the gist):
"Windows cannot logon, Windows Validation Unavailable Error xxxxxxxxXxxx"

Or something, it then logs me off and restarts the pc

It's a GENUINE Windows XP

Without an error message there is little I or anyone can suggest.

Have you made any hardware changes recently? Windows's activation key is tied to your specific hardware. Any major changes will prevent windows from starting up.

Nothing has been changed, but I did tri-boot with XP, Vista and Ubuntu recently. Vista may not have been entirely mine, but the "activation" didn't work.
