cant add steam to gamertag

every time i try to add my steam to my gamertag i get this message Steam information could not be retrieved. This may be due to privacy settings on your account i try to go to a thread about how to fix it and it says the thread couldn't be found i dont know what to do i need help

I'm sorry, the thread is back now. It accidentally got deleted yesterday when we were removing some posts after someone spammed the forum. I had a backup so just restored it.

Our Steam scanner is working fine so one of your settings must be incorrect.
