Last month, controversy erupted over the culling of Crysis 2 on Steam. Publisher EA released a vague statement on the matter, calling it a licensing conflict between Valve and Crytek. Turns out the catalyst was DLC.

While it's interesting to see the reasons why, it may be a case of too little, too late for a lot of the PC elitists and the damage has been done. Thankfully there's plenty of people who don't really mind so EA haven't too much to worry about.

The EA downloader thing is better than Steam. It's nothing but a 'downloader'. Once downloaded, the game sits in a folder on your HDD as if you installed it from a disc, and there is NO DRM or dependency on the EA downloader. You can simply run the game executable.

You can even copy the whole folder to another PC and it runs just like that. Automatic updates for all EA games are done when you launch the game. You can even register your Steam CD-Key in EA downloader and you can download the game DRM free.

And all the games are like 1/3rd the price at launch day in many countries.
