Following the launch of a teaser site yesterday, Electronic Arts and Crytek today officially announced Crysis Warhead. Dubbed as a "parallel story" to the original Crysis, players assume the role of Sergeant "Psycho" Sykes on the other side of the island. In addition to all-new multiplayer content, the game will feature customizable weapons and new vehicles.

Built on an "enhanced and optimized" version of CryENGINE 2, Crysis Warhead is due out this fall exclusively on PC, with a full reveal set for this summer. Hit the break for the full release.

Weren't the Crysis devs whining about PC piracy and claiming to not do PC exclusive titles anymore?

It just seems interesting how the first follow up to Crysis is also PC-only.

I agree, it's surprising that this game is being touted as a PC exclusive, considering previous comments made by higher-ups over at Crytek.

It's possible that the console version of CryENGINE is not ready for prime time yet, but they still wanted to release another Crysis title this year. Or development began way before they changed their stance on PC exclusives.

I love the fact that its PC-only, since there has been alot of console exclusive games that us PC gamers will never get to play. GO CRYTECH !!!

Actually Plague, what I think is funny is how even console exclusives are rarely exclusive, there's more cross-platform titles than ever before. The whole PS3/360 thing has been a huge debate...which I can't understand because the "line" between them is so blurred that it's hard to recognize the strengths of either system.

Basically, what I'm saying is 5 years ago a title would either be for PC, PS2, XBOX, etc....nowadays it's more like PC or "console". But I think PC is still ahead in terms of enthusiast gaming.

And about Warhead, I bet x3sphere's comments were dead-on.
