Check the BIOS of the laptop and look under the boot preferences. If there's an option for ExpressCard then I'd say definitely. If there's not, I'm not 100% sure but you should be able to if it just identifies itself as a drive to the BIOS.

All I've got is:
IDE0 <Drive Model>
IDE1
Network Boot
CD/DVD <Drive Model>
USB HDD
USB FDD
USB CD/DVD ROM

I'm not sure what IDE1 is, because I thought my motherboard only had one place for a drive...
