i have a compaq laptop v3000

i am buying samsung 2233sw 22inch monitor

i am going to connect it to my laptop

so here is the question

when i connect it to my laptop can i use it instead of my laptop screen to display full laptop screen on my new monitor and the laptop screen stays off

or laptop screen gets divided

i want to use it instead of my laptop screen

full screen on my new monitor
