PC FFXIV Should I buy?

I'm considering buying FF XIV for PC.
Any thoughts?

Anyway, the question is the pricing. Not for the game, for playing it!
Also how long do we get trial period with it.

Actually, the game is free right now past the initial price. Due to the god-awful launch and community response it's free until the game gets up to speed with what people consider good.

Right now the game is actually pretty fun if you get a good linkshell. There isn't a huge amount of content, but that'll be fixed in the coming months. Overall I'd say you should get it.

So fully free or until a part of the story line is finished?
And, this is something I noted for many RPGs..... Can you jump (LMAO :D)??

There isn't any monthly subscription right now, so yeah it's free.

And no, you can't jump unfortunately :(

The free-to-play part is great!
The no-jump part...... doesn't matter, you can't jump in most rpgs anywayz...............

You can get the game for under 35$ if you look hard enough too.

You're kidding right?
I found it for less than $20 (Rs.1000)! :D

Almost all games are below $20 around here (for original that is).
Some of the older ones are less than $10.

For duplicate ones (many shops sell them around here, illegally obviously) it's less than $3!!!

All $ amounts are the $ equivalents of Rupees!

Under 20$ eh? that's even better!

If you search around Ebay you can get it for around that price as well. Just make sure you get the Square Enix account from the person first. That's what the CD key is tied to.

Can't you create one with the cd key?
Cause I'm probably gonna get an unused key with it! (not 3rd party sellers in this site)!

You can create one. Personally I just wouldn't risk it because keeping CD keys happens often when selling PC games.

I tried it myself and didn't like it at the time....I may try it again though...undecided...

I too have been considering playing this since it's free to play.

I hate subscriptions.

That is the reason I'm considering this one.
A good MMORPG with no subscription (for now at least).
I not only hate it, but I'm unable to pay it too!

I tried it myself and didn't like it at the time....I may try it again though...undecided...

I have seen different opinions on the reviews.
Anyway, why so?

You can create one. Personally I just wouldn't risk it because keeping CD keys happens often when selling PC games.

I'll keep that in mind.

Few more questions to the players.
1) How's the server population?
2) Do I have to watch my back the whole time (I remember when I played WoW online, I got PKed within 5 minutes of entering any town) :D....
3) Related to above, is PKing possible at all?
4) Does it have an offline mode by default?
5) When it comes to gameplay, is it anything like WoW?

I might pick it up next paycheck... depends on how much I bring home, how much bills are, and if I splurge all the rest of my money on PS3 games...

Got it.....
It has two keys inside so I guess I'm set..................
Well I'll install later I guess.

This is excellent..............
Whenever I try to run the cd or open it, it automatically EJECTS!!!
Gonna try to get a replacement....
BTW is it STILL illegal to download FF XIV and play using MY key?

Illegal yes, immoral, not really.

Still illegal eh?
So the questions are:
1) Is their method of 'use-original-cd-to-play-the-game-and-if-it-doesn't-work,-ask-the-seller-for-replacement-and-if-that-doesn't-work...so-sorry-you're-screwed' or my method of 'I-bought-the-original-cd-but-it's-defective-so-I-use-a-downloaded-clonedvd-to-play-it-with-the-key-I-bought' the 'correct' method?
2) What is 'correct' :D??

Major false alarm.
DVD works now.
First thing I'm gonna do is to make my own clonedvd though!

For some reason I don't trust dvds so I keep a copy in my EXT Harddisk.
