Detroit
: Become Human
is an adventure game
developed by Quantic Dream and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 4.
The game is a strong story
based game which your choices determine the outcome of the events that play out for the rest of the game. You as the 3 playable characters in the game which are:
Markus, a caretaker android for a famous painter who, after gaining consciousness, takes it upon himself to free others like him so that they can all be free.
Connor, a police investigator android tasked with hunting down androids that have deviated from their programmed behaviours ( self aware androids).
Kara, a housekeeper android who develops artificial consciousness and becomes responsible for a young girl who becomes like a daughter to her.
The games 1st chapter starts the game strong but then after that it slows down a bit to introduce the other characters (so stick with it because after the slow down the game becomes amazing). Detroit Become Human does not have any game overs, if you fail or mess up during a event the character you play as or one of the important NPC could be killed off and thus changing the story for good. The game has many different endings depending on the choices you make for each character.
The developers want you to play the game without reloading, if you feel like you make a mistake, they want you to feel like this is real life, where every choice may have a consequence and you can't go back and change it (so if you choice kills someone off, don't reload it but continue the story without that character).
The game feels like a sci-fi drama with quick time events, which is refreshing from most triple A titles. The game developers also made Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls which are also similar to game play and are very strong narrative based games. During my play time I felt connected to each character and actually felt bad when something went wrong in their story. Out of the 3 characters I enjoyed Markus story line the most as i felt his cause and his fight was the most interesting. The games music and graphics are done very well making the immersion more intense.
Detroit Become Human knows how to tug on your emotions making you feel many emotions
during your play through ( at times I wanted to possibly attack a character who was pissing me off
but I knew it would affect the other characters or even the story). Since the game has multiple endings and multiple outcomes the game has massive replay value.
I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes scf-fi or heavy story games. Just be ready to feel those heart strings tug.
Pros
Amazing story full of emotion.
Great characters, music and setting.
Choices change the outcome of many situations.
Cons
Sometimes the button prompts where to quick.
The characters rarely run in game so your walking from point A to B is slow.
