Started what? That Ubunut doesn't qualify as Linux? linux is made for those who are stuck in the past and need a way to place them above people that use Windows or OSX to code - ubuntu just makes that process the same as Windows but with a different UI.

I defend it as being secure because it essentially is. You simply cannot do anything malicious to the entire computer without root access. If you screw up a single user, you can boot with -s in grub/lilo and get to shell, then backup whatever you want, delete the bad user, and add whatever again.

There is no if's or but's when it comes to how it works. I wish windows would run that way.

I love Linux, and I use it as my main OS. But I'm certainly not elitist. If someone wished to start using Linux I would think that was great and I would try and help them. I don't understand anyone who wouldn't enjoy speaking about a common interest.
