Good video editing software

Okay so I need a good (and hopefully free) video editing software that let's me cut and join files in the H.264 format.

Any suggestions?

If it's just basic cutting to and from then I think VirtualDub can do that for you from what I remember of using it.

Yeah I thought about VirtualDub as well but I'm going to need to do some voice-over work for university project. Also VIrtualDub freaks out when dealing with H-264 :S but thanks anyway
