PC Half Life not working

Hello,

I just received the original Half Life on PC. After I installed the program, I tried to run it. The main screen popped up fine, but when I tried to start a new game, the game hangs up. I've tried to run it in compatibility mode, install Steam and install updates, but nothing seems to be working!

Is there any way to resolve this issue? Or am I stuck with a game that only has a working main menu?

What OS are you using? XP, Vista, 7? And this is the 'original' HL, correct? Seeing as you can access the menu, try changing the Graphics API between OpenGL and DirectX, see if that helps.

Also, could you please post some specifications of your PC?
