Ipod 5g problem

I just got a ipod 5g and my computer wont recognize it. (It will show that it it has nothing connected but the ipod does?)
Windows XP
Ipod nano 5g
Latest itunes.

Most likely bad cable. They aren't the most reliable component. I have had my iPod Nano G3 cable malfuinction, when plugged in it believes it is being disconnected/reconnected at a very fast rate.

Substitute the cable, all of them work, even iPhone ones.

Also, did XP give a 'USB Device Not Recoignised' or 'USB Device Malfunction' alert?

I tried it with my other ipod cables too.
Check for USB driver updates.

Other than that, just search manually.

Did that.
