Kernel Exploits and 6.30

You're sol full of bad mood

But basically, you're right.

So, everyone who got a spare ISO-less PSPgo, consider sending it to me :p

Is it me or is just, paying for games, alot easier and........guaranteed 100% compatibility.

Please, all of you. Shut the fuck up.

You can trade in your PSP Slim to gamestop and get $110 (atleast in the stores by me), and you know how much a PSP Fat is? $99. Sure, its used, but guess what, youll have all your "homebrew".

A New PSP 3000 with Firmware below 5.03 is how much, like $170, you may get lucky and find a slim for less than that.

If you bought a PSP Go thinking "Ill be able to hack this!", your a fucking idiot.
*you're

I remember back in the day, when I bought socom and custom firmware didn't support it the first day it came out, I switched to OFW with no hesitation. So maybe that is what happened to alot of CFW users, they couldn't play there new games so they just abandoned the PSP scene.

Now that I actually have a job and can afford to pay for games this is the route I'm going to start taking. Less hassle (until games simply can't be played on 5.50 FW anymore), better compatibility, less chance of being caught and punished for being a pirate.

Ahhh I wasn't trying to be a grammar nazi. I was emphasizing the whole phrase because he called someone an idiot.

Thanks for the morning read and the great memories of 1.5 :)

I'm actually loading my PSP 1000 with homebrew at the moment for a long drive. It feels good, man. I might even downgrade to 1.5 for teh lulz. Never mind, I like themes too much.

Never!!1! I love my Go way too much to even consider giving it away... love it so much that I sold my 2001 just to shave off some of the $250 price tag for it! :p

Seriously, despite what some say about it being a failure and all with the price, advertisement and all, IMO it's still a nice piece of portable hardware.

Agreed!!

If anyone is to blame then, the devs are for hacking the PSP and not putting a Anti-ISO measure in it, right?
Couldn't they have foreseen what ISO loading on a portable device as popular as the PSP would have become?

There's just one little tiny problem... EXPLOIT. You can't get around it, even custom firmware use one (in the pre-IPL) and if you publish it you give them the exploit (all they have to do is reverse it, a task that even lamers can do within a week). Once they got that they got control of the system, and you can put all the protections you like, it isn't going to change anything.

The situation with 5.03 HEN was way worse, Team Typhoon chose not to provide an ISO loader and got insulted for doing that. A few days later a team shows up that releases something that was 99% stolen files from the M33 firmware, and get praised for being so amazing. That's a disgrace, it's unthinkable. A major amount of people would rather praise thiefs as long as they get to pirate their games.

If you do support piracy, you end up harming the very industry you may want to get a job in. If you don't support piracy, a bunch of thiefs will do it for you and you'll end up being insulted (because, obviously, those who don't include an ISO loader are not good developers at all). Nice choice.

99 out of 100 people install CFW for piracy. Its foolish to expect them all to be interested when you release a CFW without ISO support. It was obvious from the beginning. Hell, I daresay some versions of HEN were made with the sole intention of allowing users to downgrade to 1.50 and install OE firmware. It even came packaged with the downgrader IIRC meaning you were never even expected to run anything under HEN.

It was foolish, and now that we realized that, we won't do it again. Promise.

Sounds exactly like the wii hacking scene, where Waninkoko is like Becus and Xenogears, and Bushing is like Team Typhoon.

At least they didn't directly incorporate the kernel exploit into their loader to be launched straight from the TIFF. They wouldn't have had the skill to do that anyway.

Just an opinion

At least on the wii scene you don't have to listen to the the tired old mantra "piracy is killing the psp" as if the R4,JTAG,USB-Loader,etc. are incalculable anomalies that somehow existed without destroying the consoles.
Maybe some people need to quit attacking everyone's motives & start questioning their own.
It's commendable to ask that people support & respect the proprieters of the software & code that they enjoy. But it makes them no less hypocritical to violate someone's TOS just to try to self impose their own.
If some of the devs are contributing to allow people more freedom with the hardware they OWN & doing it out of the spirit of generosity & freedom of choice then I personally would like to thank you because you have the very best of goodwill & intentions. You have the gratitude & admiration of myself & many others.
To those who are only doing it for respect, recognition, praise & the conform to my beliefs & obey my wishes attitude that they feel entitles them to try to exert their own control. They should really take a look in the mirror & ask themselves why they are really doing this & if their motives are really any more honorable than the people they keep condemning.

Afaik, hacking the Wii is 10x harder than hacking a PSP, and the userbase isn't as irresponsible as the PSP userbase is.

To everyone blaming the devs, you should be taking a look in the mirrior, it is not the dev's fault only, it was your own irresponsability that created this whole situation. Had you know how to use responsibly use what was given to you, things might have not escalated to this point. Had you shown appriciation for what was given to you, th devs wouldn't have gotten pissed.

Dark_AleX was the first, only he did it quietly, he just walked away and left you all hanging. It was his way of punishing all of you.

I just wanted to put my 2cts in the mix. I've always been on the side of the devs in this argument, with the rampant piracy thats prevalent on the PSP, there is no benefit for the continued release of exploits, CFW, HENs, etc... I personally except the decisions they have made not to release said works, and personally do not condone piracy, and do use my CFW for homebrew ONLY. I have purchased plenty of psp games and intend to continue to support the game developers. While i do understand this is meant to be a 'developer' forum, mfm has gone far from that, attracting all sorts of 'noobs' and whatever else you would like to call them. My whole point to this is, the homebrew devs continue to fuel the fire and tease the pirates with these exploits, and unreleased HENs, wouldnt it make sense to just keep this information to yourselfs, or your other devs in irc chats and whatnot. While I support the homebrew devs 100% in their actions, i think that all of this may be the devs fault for continuing to feed into the nonsensical bs that the noobs and pirates continue to bring to this forum. Just know that a most of the people on these forums do appreciate your hard work and support your decisions, and dont let a few douchebags ruin what little is left of this scene.

wat wat?

I only hacked one Wii up till today and I thought the process was way harder than the simple PSP one... Even a 8 year old kid can do it he has proper instructions (I've actually tested that...)

Oh, I thought you meant like finding exploits. It made no sense to me.
