Don't remember where this goes, but whatever.

I'm having the lag issue...Again.

My specs are as follows:
Windows XP SP2
Processor: Intel Pentium Dual-Core.
1.86GHz
2GB RAM.

The game: L4D.

I've set the arguments at: "-dxlevel 80" to try and reduce lag, but nothing.

I'd assume he is referring to performance. Anyway, the specs you provided are lacking a vital piece of information. What's your GPU?

That said, it looks like your CPU and RAM are up to par, so I'm assuming your GPU is the culprit here.

You need a proper GPU to run L4D, 8600GT/9500GT is the bare minimum I would say.

Hmm, would there be any way I could edit

To dx8 or dx7?

To dx8 or dx7?

L4D doesn't support <= DX8. You might be able to hack it but textures would be missing etc. Overall not worth the trouble.

You will never get l4d running "well" with those specs.

However, if you're noticing decreased performance, it could be from having the resolution or quality set higher than before. It could also be from having more background processes.....and considering how your browser used to look, I wouldn't be surprised.

Ran it on my old pc (Intel P4 2.93 | 1.5GB RAM | Intel GMA 900)

barely ran at about 10fps and was completely messed up

To play the game, and what's the point of buying the game, turning around and selling it a few weeks later?

The point of the L4D games is to experience it with other people cooperatively, the story isn't exactly what people buy them for...
