My friend's WLM problems

My friend's boyfriend uninstalled WLM off of her laptop for some odd reason, and when she tries to install it again, it says that WLM is already installed.

She's on XP if that makes a difference.

Also, she said her boyfriend said "I could fix it in a flash, but i wont" If that helps.

Could it be something to do with the registry or something? Sorry for asking a lot of questions here, but everyone seems to know what's wrong with stuff here

EDIT: Someone recommended that she should run Ccleaner to clear the registry, would that fix it?

What if it is installed? Shortcuts could just be removed :p
But yeah, if that isn't the case, go with CCleaner

C:/Program files/Windows Live/Messenger didn't exist, so i'm pretty sure it wasn't just the shortcuts.

I'll tell her to try CCleaner when i talk to her next, thanks!

Use this tool called ZapMessenger made by my friend Jonathan Kay, then re-install it.

Or, depending on how he "uninstalled" it, just repair the install.

Note: You need .NET Framework 2.0 installed to use ZapMessenger.
