Need A Portable Video Player - What To Get?

So the closest thing I've ever had to an MP3 player I've had been a PSP, I've decided to get a portable media player, which I will use mainly for videos, not music (as I am not very into music :O)
I want something I can literally just chuck a divx .avi, or an mp3, or an mp4 or whatever format I want onto and it will just play. No need to take 30 minutes converting it to another format in order to watch it.
I have been looking at buying an Archos and the cheapest I find seem to be this:

Try and snag one of those, it'll handle everything you can throw at it, the newest model has a touchescreen, runs a flavor of Linux, and you can emulate a shit ton of stuff on it. Might be more than you want, but it's neat.

And also along those lines:

Good luck getting one though.

I advise against a GP2X for a video player, it's more of a gaming device as is Pandora. The Archos is a great PMP

Thanks but I don't really want to pay more for features I will never use (like emulation (I have a hacked DS and PSP) and Linux) plus they look hard to find.

All I want is the ability to be able to play divx .avi files without converting them and a reasonably big screen and capacity. Asides from that, I'm open to suggestions :)

I agree, i dont know, im sticking to the PSP as a video player, i likes it, stylish too.

The PSP is a horrendous video player..it supports only a couple formats, and has really bad limits. Not saying it's bad for it's size, because it's good for a 333mhz (tops) 32MB ram device, but, it still sucks. If the Pandora can play games, it can sure as hell play videos..I'd think it'd be a good player..I might invest in it. Playing videos takes a lot less than games. Especially for like a h264 mp4 aac video. Might not be see-the-bead-of-sweat-on-their-eyeball quality, but it's what it is.

The PSP is a good solution for those who already own one, but for those that don't then I wouldn't spend it on a PSP. Although I'm the one who spent $600 on a UMPC as my video player (and still love it, 6+ hours of video). While some of the latest Archos players aren't the greatest they probably are still the best in terms of bang-for-buck and screen size.

Meh, PSP's can be found anywhere, and with some having broken screens that can be replaced for 20-30 dollars, i see it as far cheaper then investing in a Pandora. IDK, i like the pandora, but i woundnt buy it, but then again, ive been running around without headphones just because i wont pay 5 bucks for a decent pair. Rather pay 30 cents and wait 3 weeks to get it shipped.
