PSP freezes at gameboot

Poor

I've had this problem for a long time. It's a strange problem and I don't expect that I will get any answers. This problem comes and goes. Half the time when I start up the PSP, it does not recognize that there is a UMD in the tray. UMD drive doesn't seem to try to read it. If I start an ISO, hombrew, or a PSN game, the system will freeze at the gameboot. It is the default gameboot, I did not modify it. Sometimes when I start up the PSP, the UMD drive starts up and it does display the UMD in the XMB. In that case, everything works fine. Also, if I pull out the battery during a game, rather than shutting it down normally, there is a higher chance that it will start up fine. I have tried reinstalling CFW and restoring the IPL keys. Nothing seems to work.

I'm not sure if this is a hardware problem or a flash problem. The UMD drive can read disc fine when it works. Even if the drive was broken it shouldn't freeze the system when I boot homebrew. Has anyone ever experienced this?

okay a few things:

1) run keycleaner fix any keys if theyre broken

2)use IRshell, it doesnt use the gameboot at all

3) format flash1 inside recover

4)run DC8 and make a idstorage

5)install OFW and see if the problem persists, i would advise 5.03 and use the HEN and CFE
if those fail im going to assume its a hardware fault.

I ran a program called KeyCleaner 1.4 and it found a bad key and fixed it. Now it seems to be running fine. For googlers with similar problems: the problems were the UMD not loading often, freezing when starting homebrew and games, and being unable to change the destination for saved files on the web browser. KeyCleaner 1.4 fixed all that.
