I have a kind of old setup. I want to upgrade my processor (Pentium D 805) to a Dual Core E5300. However, my current mobo (a Intel board from 2006) doesn't support the new Dual Cores.
I don't have much money to work with, so I'm thinking of buying a cheap Asus or Gigabyte mobo with my E5300. The problem is, almost every board out there no longer supports 533 mhz RAM, which is what I have.
So my question is, can a motherboard that supports 667/800 mhz RAM support 533 mhz RAM? I know that if you use a higher frequency RAM on a lower frequency motherboard, it's okay, but is the opposite applicable?
