This game was a HUGE improvement over the other games of the series as it was the first to feature full voice acting and had nice cartoonish graphics and cutscenes that really made it stand out from the rest[...]

My first published article on eXo. Hell yeah.

Look forward to a few more retro reviews. I'm beating the Zelda games all the way back from the NES era.

I keep meaning to do that, I loved Oracle of the Ages on the gameboy and they were classic style 2D Zelda games.

The only sort of point and click game I ever played was Discworld because when I started gaming on the PC it was all about Counter-Strike and other FPS games. I've heard a lot about the Monkey Island games but never considered giving them a go... maybe I'll see if I can find them to download.

Good review, keep it up!

Great article, and really well written, I'll have to give it a try as I'm also playing older games that I'd missed.

Just playing through the original Legend of Zelda now aswell, made a thread about it, just beat the 8th dungeon, and thoroughly enjoying it.
No idea how I missed out on these games for so long.

Agreed.

NesterJ didn't save my Zelda progress from yesterday so I had to restart today. Holy **** D:

Fuck, that sucks.

I read a few times, that the when playing it on the original hardware it wouldn't always save your progress when it was supposed to, and some people recommended holding the reset switch when shutting down the console, which is supposed to ensure it saves your progress. So, for that reason I'm using savestates(also playing it on NesterJ).

How far are you now?

For me, the first 2-3 levels were easy as hell, the rest were progressively, much harder with the exception of level 8, which I'm assuming I got lucky with, because it was quite easy and I'm sure I didn't explore the whole level so I'll probably go through it again incase I missed an item. But I've completed the triforce so I'm assuming I need to find Zelda or Ganon now.

I have just been playing Megaman on NesterJ, they were great games - I had a spell where i played nothing but the old Sega and nintendo titles. Wonderboy, Rampage, double dragon and loads of the Mario ones particularly Mario 3. They have a charm you just don't get now.

Just beat the third dungeon yesterday after speedrunning the first two.
